Elegant twist end.

This certainly wasn't your usual offering. But sometimes we don't choose the story, the story chooses us. I'm also a generally upbeat writer, but I once had a story sort of twist in my hands as I wrote it, until it was something very different and far darker than I had originally intended. It sort of disturbs one to discover that the muse sometimes produces nightmares as well as daydreams.

Yup, that took an different direction than you usually go (although given that you chose Outer Limits, it wasn't a *total* shock).

You did it well, however, and I wonder if, given his unhappiness about his "gift," this was perhaps the inevitable end for him anyway. :-/
