Reviews for The Queen That Was Promised
thepkrmgc chapter 4 . 7/23
its a shame that your going with the "all prophecies come true" take on things,
thepkrmgc chapter 3 . 7/23
tyrion (at least early on in the series) fiercely loyal to anyone who treats him half decently, if he and cersi actually work together they could accomplish some great and terrible things
thepkrmgc chapter 2 . 7/23
I note that she only told him part of the prophecy, I wonder how he will react to the rest of it?
thepkrmgc chapter 1 . 7/23
Cersi might grow up to be a monster in canon, but at this point she's still a kid and can still embark upon a different path. I've yet to see a rhaegar/cersi fic where she was a remotely sympathetic character, this might prove to be an exception.

Your story is so amazing and well written. I hope you wil post the next chapter one day.
Blackbird0 chapter 16 . 2/22
Oho, this is interesting. I never would have thought them friends.
FractiousDay chapter 16 . 1/24
Some of it’s quite good but other parts feel rather forced.

Please update soon. I'm obsessed with this story. Can't wait for more.
Zip chapter 16 . 9/8/2019
First time reader here. I love how you've driven the story forward with traditionally side characters like Queen Rhaella, Arthur Dayne, Jon Connington and I especially am fascinated by Lady Serala and Visenya.

I'm really interested to see what changes you'll make and what you'll keep the same. And the circumstances in which they'll unfold.

The change you made to the prophecy especially because I can't see Jaime or Rhaegar fathering 16 children or Cersei loving Robert. I can see Cersei growing to love Tyrion and him having 16 kids, especially if she realizes or Visenya tells her, that Tyrion is her most valuable ally.

Rhaegar growing fond of Cersei and they way you've written it is really sweet.

Dying to read more.

Since I found people hating on Cersie in your review section, I wanted to address that. Asoiaf doesn't have black or white characters, it has grey characters. No one is a hero or villain in the story, it all depends on our perspective, on whom we prefer or identify with. Dany's turn in the show demonstrates this. (It's rushed in the show, but she'll turn in the books too and people will look back and see how they supported and cheered for a genocidal manic because they found her sympathetic)

Take Jaime/Cersie thing for example. People (in fandom) shame them for incest while cheering for targ incest couples. How is that not hypocritical? Also, sure Cersie in your story is already a murderer, but which character doesn't have blood on their hands? Everyone, including saint!Ned have killed people. In the name of love or war or honor. So why should only Cersie be hated?

I'm not even a Cersie fan btw, I just think the amount of hate she gets is unjustified. And while I'm unhappy that Cersie is going to be screwed in this story as well, I'll at least be getting to read an interesting version of her, so thank you for writing and sharing.

This is such an original concept. I've never read anything like this so I am thoroughly hooked and can't wait for the next update. Your characters are exquisitely drawn and feel very much in tune with their book counterparts. The events in the story are believable and feel like "could have happened", you know?

Since you were unsure about it, I'd say introducing the voice inside Cersei's head was a brilliant decision. In books, Cersie is a rash, arrogant, selfish and at times foolish character. She needs guidance, and your Cersie unlike her book counterpart, is young and mallable. Having Visneya as a mentor would only help her into becoming a competent woman. She might still become evil, but she wouldn't be stupid.

I can't stand Lynna or the romance between her and Rhaegar. I can forgive her if she was truly kidnapped and raped, but since it seems like she went willingly, I hold her responsible for the war and deaths and destruction that followed her elopement. She and Rhaegar caused more deaths than all the so called villains combined, including mad King or Joff or Boltons. I hope hope hope that there isn't a Rhaegar/Lynna romance in this story because I can't stand the pairing or stories that idealise the said pairing. This story is something unique and I so hope you don't follow the stale paths.

I stan you and this fic so much. I'm so glad I discovered this. I read it in one go. It's epic and amazing. There's a lot of canon material in this but you've approached it with such a different interpretation that it all seems completely original.

I love the political complexity you've introduced within each character and how it comes through in their internal motivations and turmoils. Ser Arthur and Lady Serala are really interesting in this fic, since their loyalties can shift.

I actually really believe Rhaegar could fall in love with a young version of Cersei. A version of Cersei who wasn't yet jaded by Tywin's disinterest, Robert's abuse and in general the trauma of not being able to freely grow into someone she desired to be. She's just a young girl who wants to prove herself worthy of her father and be loved by him. Something that was likely exacerbated with the death of her mother.

I think you've absolutely nailed Tywin. He seems exactly like the Tywin Lannister GRRM wrote about.

I like how Queen Rhaella and Joanna's friendship has factored into the story as well. Queen Rhaella and Cersei's interactions are so curious to me. It almost seems like the current Queen is mentoring the future Queen sometimes. But it also seems like Rhaella is trying to pay back Joanna through her daughter. The whole dynamic between these three character is do damn interesting.

The whole Visenya aspect is just amazing and I can't wait to see it unfold some more.

Tyrion writing to Cersei and Cersei's trying to make that relationship better is also interesting.

There's really so much in this fic to enjoy. There are a few grammatical typos here and there. But you've got an insanely good plot and complex characters and back stories. This is the most interesting GoT AU fic I've read.

Please continue writing.

Guest chapter 16 . 7/19/2019
I absolutely love this story! I’m so curious about Cersei’s prophecy regarding ‘the closest person to your heart’ will Jaime have 16 kids? I’m SO dying to know and Jaime x Ashara was so unexpected for me, I thought you’d go the ashara x ned route. Nevertheless, I’m so excited for next chapter, can’t wait to see what you do with Cersei and Lyanna!
