I like the story fairly well. Your writing is very good and I enjoy your characterization. However I'm a bit confused as to why you bothered to make Alex a reincarnation. It has had almost no effect on the story. I guess there was a small bit of motivation here and there, but it's mostly pointless. The two times it played a significant factor were the diary and Sirius. In both of those cases you could have just as easily given other reasons for her to act as she did.

The story is good despite this issue, and I'm mostly just doing my best to ignore the fact that Alex started as a reincarnation, since it doesn't appear to be a factor in the story anymore.

Ok, it appears I reviewed a bit too soon. I still mostly stand by my points, but once the diary was shoved into Alex's face, you did have her do something about it. You could have had her just not run into Harry until he lost the diary, so I have to give credit there.

I have been liking the story pretty well, but there are a couple areas where I am struggling.

First is the house rivalry. It seems oddly extreme when it comes to Alex. Maybe it's perception bias cause Alex is mostly a loner, but it just seems off that Alex is getting attacked by Hufflepuffs and grown adults are judging a preteen because she wears a green tie at school. Wizarding society wouldn't work if they ostracized a quarter of the population the way the story seems to imply. In cannon, besides extreme cases like Ron and Draco, the house divide mostly seemed to stick to the houses being insular and not getting to know people outside their houses.

The next issue is Alex's erratic memories. She remembers stuff about the Dursleys. She remembers about Quirrel and the twins throwing snowballs at his head, but she forgets about the Troll? She remembers about Scabbers being Peter, but only because she apparently can't do anything about it. She doesn't remember the Basilisk, which is the whole plot of book two, and mentioned multiple times after. It really seems like Alex only remembers about stuff she can't impact, so the story can stick to the cannon plotline. All in all, Alex seems pretty unexceptional for a reincarnated person who has had adult memories and thought processes her whole life.

So I left the fandom for quite a lot of time and decided to come back just to read the new chapters you uploaded.

If you have Crouch impersonating Alex I'm going to sue you. I can deal with Alex getting crucio'ed but please no polyjuice. My poor heart can not take so much.

Alex is an amazing character that has both many good qualities and flaws. It's good to see the world actually react to her and not be a Mary Sue. Her fallout with Cedric has me hanging. I absolutely love her friendship with him, but I do see where he comes from. Plus the fact that she didn't want him to enter the tournaments probably hasn't left his mind. The fact that one of her final thoughts before walking to her 'imminent death' was "My final moments with Cedric were a fight" is soul crushing and I can't wait for them to make up.

I love them. They are perfect.

And Alexa's parents. Them and Sirius are two things that I absolutely adore about this fic. I'm really glad I came back just to read it (although WHY COULDN'T I WAIT ANOTHER MONTH SO I HAD CHAPTER 45 TOO?!)

She used one spell, she tapped the butterfly accessory once, and she started sweating? had an ache in her arm for complicated spell work? weren't this the same fanfic where the sorting hat admitted she had more magic than anyone else her year? how the hell does one single transfiguration spell tire her out when someone like McGonagall could literally give life to every statue in Hogwarts? I get that she's a teacher and stuff but a butterfly? really?!

I like the way Alex is a Slytherin and self-serving (if that’s the right word?). I’m wondering what Moody thinks of her, when he sees that she isn’t afraid of Voldemort (when everyone else is... why not her?)

I don’t comment often, and when I do it’s largely pointless. But when I read Alex asking Harry “do you wanna play a game” my mind went to dark places and for a second my tired mind assumed the worst! Looking forward to being wrong and enjoying the rest.
