This was well written, but ultimately pointless. All your characters are named after ASoIaF characters, but are almost universally unrecognizable. I'm not even sure what was even accomplished aside from a lot of drama that seemed to be centered around a bunch of people dying "because".

I'm sorry, but I have to give this a thumbs down based solely on the fact that it meanders almost completely aimlessly and never had a true main character. Grammar and spelling were excellent; but the tale was not.

Ned is a hypocrite. He accuses the North lords of not valuing history and then burns documents when it suits him. Brandon was right about him being a Southern dog. The Ned of this story is truly undeserving of ruling the North.

Ned is a really pathetic puppet in this story... I can't believe the North is portrayed as not valuing history when THEY are the ones who descend from the First Men. They have the slogan "The North Remembers." Aerys made them pay out of their own pockets for repairment of the Kingsroad that everyone uses, so what the hell are the taxes they pay to the Crown used for? It certainly doesn't go back to the people. If the North is paying for itself and taxes aren't used to help them, then they are basically their own government. Since the lumbar and good game have been introduced, they became the self-sustaining half of the kingdom, but Rickard and Ned somehow deluded themselves into believing they should do MORE for the kingdom for LESS for the people in their lands? They have NO BENEFITS in every single situation. The North always takes care of itself, the Northern lords are right to be pissed. Rickard and Ned are doing the most for the South that doesn't do anything for them and NOTHING for the North that they are supposed to look after. I know Ned was raised without honor in this story, but I can't believe he was also raised to care so little for the people he's supposed to protect. He's letting them get taken advantage of and basically thanking the Crown for it. Like? What a good-for-nothing fool.

So what about the Old Gods? Does Ned follow them?
