Ya know, you could go totally AU and actually have them end up together. How would cannon have played out them. Since Snape is such an integral part of the fight against Voldemort, how would you still use him as a spy? Could you? Would he and Lily still be able to be together somehow?

And the answer to these and many more questions would be in your sequel.
