Reviews for The Great Alliance
R1pY0u chapter 8 . 4/27
Jeor Mormont wasn't at the wall at this time, at least not if you claim that he went bcuz of Jorah.

That whole slavery and disgrace stuff happened far later, it's roots starting after the Greyjoy Rebellion

Ok. My review is this:

I loved the story. I laughed a few times but I was able to cry even more...a good sign for any story. However, this story would go asking way to being a great story with the use of a beta. There was a lot of spelling errors, missing words or letters , etc. The errors were distracting to the story but not detrimental to understanding the story.

As far as plot line, it was pretty good. For a bit of the Surry I actually pulled for Desmera or Wynfryd to win Tons love because of how vindictive and plotty Marguery was. You did make me come to like her though.

Thanks for the read.

AACM25 chapter 28 . 11/6/2017
wouldn't they first need Ned's approval
AACM25 chapter 27 . 11/6/2017
though why rule from Riverrun though? Personally I might say that Moat Cailin would be the ideal place(If repaired) being in the middle between the North and Riverlands, since Winterfell is too far away.
AACM25 chapter 15 . 11/6/2017
Wasn't Willas a little too young to marry Cercei, I mean Willas was 9 years old at the end of the rebellion.
Guest chapter 22 . 7/1/2017
baratheon have blue eyes not green just letting you know.

I didn't know what to expect when I first started. At first I thought it would be a simple prequel to A Game of Thrones, but then Lyanna Stark came back. Even then I thought, she's going to die in a minute, but as it went on and she got better and I realised that this was a complete reimagining and I became hooked. I was glad the description was so ambiguous then, because it kept me guessing.

Overall I enjoyed the general tone, but in the end it all felt a bit too neat and tidy in how things turned out. It seemed incredibly convenient that Edmure would die young so that Robb could become heir to Riverrun and thus be a suitable match for Margaery, to unite all the great house neatly. But that did lead to the best arc in the whole story, in the Robb, Desmera and Margaery love triangle, the only point in which everything did go horribly wrong for 'the Alliance'. But that does lead to my biggest gripe with the entire story: Margaery getting with Robb.

I didn't like Margaery. She's a manipulative snob. All sections from her PoV after a certain point show the only thing she was interested in was power and self gratification, to the point she was considering getting rid of Ser Desmond because he has a similar name to Desmera. Meanwhile Desmera is such a nice girl and I felt she paired well with Robb when they were together. I felt that she wouldn't have been dismissive of the Northern customs in the same way that Margaery was shown to be. It doesn't seem at all right to build up their relationship in such a way to just smash it to pieces in the next breath, over one single night of passion. Basically you created some nice conversations between two characters, and then he goes for someone else, because they had sex one time.

The worst is that it was paving the way for a great climax of another civil war between the alliance of stark, arryn, Tully and baratheon with the Tyrell's and the lannisters, a problem which has been building all the way throughout the story, leading to the end of Tywin Lannister for good, the end of the Tyrells but the great Alliance being fulfilled through Tyrion becoming the Lord of Casterly Rock, and the Redwynes becoming wardens of the south (or something like that). But instead you took the easy option and had it all just work out through perfectly calculated marriages.

So yes, the ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Also it would have been nice if you had sorted out all those typos, and putting spaces between all speech marks often made it tricky to work out what was actually being said and what was being done.

But to leave on a positive note, I did really enjoy the tale, it was clearly well thought out on how all the families would fit together, making Robb the heir to Riverrun, despite what I have said above, was extremely clever, and it was nice to see Jaime grow into the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, with Benjen Stark as his best friend. Also liked your portrayal of each character to be in fitting with the canon, it was a great moment when Brynden missed his first shot at burning Hoster's body, so that he could remain a disappointment like he had done all his life. That was very in character.

I don't do ratings but I will do something that I don't normally do, and that is favourite the story, so well done
