The ending in parentheses hurts me. I am always in awe of your writing and even though I am aware of the ending Ichigo and Rukia face, I think I am still going to watch this show

I LOVE SONG FICS. And this, this is perfection. No matter further written or left alone, it will still be beautiful as it is. I love the concept of their separation and how they try to get back to their original lives and fates, only having their habits and memories haunt them later. Bittersweet but still somewhat heartwarming and blissful. I love this version of the lonely 17 months separation. As I said previously, it is beautiful as it is, emphasizing on more of the loneliness and longing between Ichigo and Rukia. Though, continuing with another chapter would be great, this time giving the world a sight of their happiness and bond. AH THE FEELS. HAHAHA KEEP WRITING STAY INSPIRED enjoyed this fic, thank you for posting this, author-san!

i gotta say, u did the impossible and almost made me ok with the ending. filling in the gaps and making the couples' growing into one another is definitely something vital kubo left out. welp. here's to 15 years and rip to the otp.

You killed me. This was so good. Like, it killed me but in a good way. And you used both James Bay and Ben Howard to do it (double whammy!) You got me with just the first paragraph, man. I like that you fill in the blanks of how we got from 685 to 686 in a realistic, but no less heart wrenching manner. I think this line really sums it up best, "She leaves his heart and takes hers back." That one destroyed me specifically.

As for the ending, I like that you don't leave Rukia hanging, while Ichigo slowly moves on with Inoue. I kind of like that it's open-ended and finishes on a hopeful note (even though my brain is screaming wrong wrong wrong). I don't think we'll ever get closure on how the manga ended, but writers like you give me hope for the fandom! :)

I think the entire IchiRuki fandom along with fans of all the other characters like Yoruichi, Urahara, ALL the arrancar, etc. feel like they're lacking closure.

I honestly prefer when people just ignore the canon ending instead of writing angst fics about it or worse cheating/divorce. Just like what the majority of the Naruto fandom did, albeit not so much for NaruHina (with Hinata's English voice actor ironically being Orihime's English one as well), but rather for other aspects of that canon storyline that had upset them up to that point (like Sasuke to name a major example).

Just remember there has been, is, and always will be AU/Alt-timeline fanfiction! ;)
