This is a very original work of fiction. Loved it, a real page turner. I prefer the alternative ending, after such a story it is just too sad to think of Darcy with another, while having his earthly posessions. Also, it shows his deep and abiding love for her and for me that is what P&P is about. Well done!

Absolutely loved your story. A few comments. I was tickled about references to a "realistic " ending. What is realistic about time travel?
I suppose someone who got into and thru medical school and much of residency would be reluctant to give it up, as well as surrender her legal rights.
However, the only way the couple can be together is in Elizabeth's time. Why? Because in Darcy's time she is dead. Suppose the midwife had called Darcy right away. What was he going to do? A bedside hysterectomy?
In fact, Darcy himself is a classic type A- anal, hostile,resentful- and has probably eaten a high cholesterol English nobleman's diet for years. His own likelihood of surviving a heartattack is in Elizabeth's time.
So I choose ending #2.

Fascinating start

Thank you for this lovely P&P FanFiction. It is different from many and you had the “courage” to not go with the obvious HEA though one could argue that Elisabeth meeting someone at the end looking similar to Darcy is sort of one HEA.
I can see the parallel with Kate and Léopold.
Another possible route would have been for E to “try out” life in NY in 1818. And then she could have become the first female doctor or something like that.
But it is a great story. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your story! I quite enjoyed it. There was definitely some "Kate and Leopold" influences in it-I enjoyed that movie so it definitely didn't bother me. You're right; the first ending is more realistic (Is that even possible in this story?), but both work.

This story was a delightful surprise in my inbox.
I was a bit hesitant at first, based on the description. But, it held my attention, made me smile, and chuckle at parts that mimicked Jane Austin's P&P.
I think I prefer the first ending. It fits the narrative of the insurmountable divide between their timelines.
Even though the second one is a fun alternative with a HEA ending.

I quite enjoyed the story and liked both endings but liked the first one better. It was sad but a bit different from the expected usual, but I like a bit of realism in my stories, and it seems like an ending more in line with their character.

I like the second ending better because they will be together but (and I mean no offense to u or the story that I enjoyed very much) I felt like Elizabeth was being an ass. Well, more like an indecisive and immature teenager. He gives up all and lays himself out for her acceptance but all she thinks about her convenience. She needs to think, she needs time... Umm... He sold everything, decided to live on a fake identity for her and will live the rest of his life in a strange modern world.. For her... Now she wants to keep him at arms lenght until she... What? Maybe I'm just bitter. Lol. Sorry. I take my romance reads too seriously.
