I like that adrien feels guilty even though he was in the right. It wouldnt have been fair to marinette if he had hid his feelings for ladybug and went with mari. Its true adrien does care for marinette alot, he admires her greatly and he does have a crush on mari but it wouldnt be rt ight for him to ignore his feelings for ladybug. Kt might seem silly because he doesnt know her likes or name and such but just because you dont facs about a person, it doesnt mean you dont know them. Chat knows ladybug and is more at ease with her and they can read eachother and what the other meant very easily. And that trust and bond had been pretty strong even before mari got her shit together and started talking to adrien finally. He has seen the worst and best sides of ladybug. She isnt bothered by nerves and he has seen her be stubborn, reckless, impulsive, childksh, unreasonable, unprofessional, that she can hold grudges, she can be cruel and petty(lila as a example), she sucks at listening to advice even or chat even when she knows she doesnt know whats going on like in sanya claws. She can be huffy, jump to conclusions as well at dense and insensative(such as to his fedlings even though he makes it more obvious), she can make things complicated when they are simple, but he has also seen ber swallow her fear and continue fighting, be creative, smart, clever and make ridiculous plans that work. She has a sharp wit and makes her own properly times puns or teases(even if she had a bad joke during reflecta she wouldnt let die). He knows she's capable, when she accepts she made a mistake sh trkes her best to set things rigbt and she is his best friend/partner who lets him be himself. And she obviously cares about people.
Adrien after seeing how affected mari was and that she down played her feelings for adrien to adrien seems to think her feelings are worth a little more tban his which shows how much he cares for mari and probably that he isnt use to putting his pwn feelings above others.
After alk everytime he tries to be a little selfish it turns out horribly. He stalled transforming to enjoy the only chance he'd gave at a birthday party but realized kt was selfish and bad because people were scared for their parents and forced at the paty agajnst their will and his best friend was a akuma.
He felt terrible even though his feelibgs from before are valid and justified. When he ran of feelings during the Christmas episode e en wben he did the right thing and deflected his attack at the tree to the poster her still faced the consequences were even though he was heading home and got comfort from a santa him running ofc caused many people problems but more importantly it made ladybug jump to conclusions and hurt santa claus which resulted in the person who helped him to be alumatized. His feelings and why he ran away were valid and justified as nd even when he stops himsrlf over worst things it still ended up causing others to be hurt.
Or how hen he showed to the statue unveil like he was suppised to while ladybug was a no show for stupid reasons he got jealous over theo, who wanted ladybug to fall for him, and without being mean or cruel he lightly mentioned theo should give up since chat and ladybug are close which resulted in copycat, his reputation being dragged through the mud, him bei.g captured and ladybug confirming out liud that she hasnt taken chat's attempts to shiw his feelings seriously at all. She said the real chat isnt n love with her.
Not to mention that time he actually got his courage up to confess and bloked a arrow for her which caused him to say mean things to her, get his first kiss stolen from him, get thrown at a akuma and then she leaves so he has to hear his horrible day from his kwami.
That time he decided to take incitive and research miraculous and talk with the new girl and . Make a new friend his book was stolen, the girl was lying to him, he say ladybug call thd new girl names and b cruel, deal wkth the stress of volphina and he was almost taken out of school till mari returned the book without his knkwledge to his dad,
He tried offering mari a ride in his car and was turned down.
And now he was finally getting closer to mari just for her to get immaptient and confess and then refuse to listen to him or confirm that they arecstill friends and now he feels guilty because the fact that he loves someone hurt one of his friends.
Heck he doesnt even believe ladybug loves him but he's illing to cinfess, most likly getting his heart broken so he can have closure so he can focus on mari.

My favorite part of ghis fic is not just your strong description of mari physically and the details of her heartbreak but that mari like most people is thinking kf herself and her own pain and how she thinks she messed up and lost him.
I think somekne needs to remind her of the other stuff adrien said because she ks only focused on him loving someone elseheartbreak
Adrien said he likes mari. He cares about her alot, admirez her,, said all this nice stuff. Its not about whether adrien can like her back(cuz he doez) but that he also loves someone else.
I do think a small part of her gets it as she mentions she got there too late but thecrest of her is downing in saddness ad self pity. Mari is amazing at it obvious adrien likez her so it stulid tgat she says sge was stupid to belueve he'd fall for her. But its exactly something someone dealing witb raw heartbreak would feel.
I think once she's calmed down for a bit she will remeber the rest of what he was saying or be reminded by tikki and she'll kick herself more. After all adrien had opened himself to her and clearly still wanted her in his lufe. So. She didnt ruin anything till she ran iff and refussed to say they'd still be friends.
I do think its good of her to feel the rejection becaise mari has felt possesive and jealkus over adrien and acted on those feelings even when she had no rigjt to. And dedpite her nerves part of her never believed he'd fall for someon else for real. That she nevef asked o looked into it and probably sinc she never noticed him eyeing up othrr girls or someone specific shecwasnt prepared. I think mari's issue isn't that she was stupid for believing he'd like her. What was stupid was she never prepared herself for the posdibilty or rejection or him liking someone else but it also suits mari because despite her clumsyness and nerves verything tends to work out for mari in the end and she doesnt have a history dealing with rejection or loss so the shock o it i think you captured very well.
I do like him daying she loves all of him even though we know that isnt exactly the case as she has been giving the brush off of chat's feelings for ages an hasnt taken him seriously even though arguably she is more comfortable, more open and closer to chat.
Mari can be rather blind herself an it exciting to wonder how ladybug will tak chat noir confession and not letting her brush off his feelings this time. Shs jus had her heartbroken but i think she'd be horrified that while she was pinning over adrien she never noticed her mitty was in love with her this whole time. She might even be more mortified or embarrassed because chat actually flirted and made moves and she still never realized it. I do think chat would be honest ad tell her about a girl who cnfessed to him or something, or maybe he'd ask ladybug or advice.
Though i wonder if mari's jealousy would kick in as she isnt used to her kitties attention straying. She might come out and ask about the f2f lirting and it would be cute if he admits he's only flirted with his lady an princess. Mati tends to have strong opinions and ideas of people tha it might be fun to see her shcked by a prolonged moment of sincerity were chat refused to not be taken seriously and for her to find out he's not a flirt at all. Would her knowing he helped her through her hesrtbreak affect her thoughts?
If he told hef he was looking ot closure or ha he knew she didnt like him back and he wanted to give a different girl a shot how would she feel? Sh has WAY more claim to chat noir and it might remind her there is a boy under that mask who she technically doesnt know and whoother people know.
My zksters gavorite part was when mari admktted she was mad becahse she was too slow. She ofckurse would feel frustered because adrien DID clearly show he admires and enjoys mari's company alot but because she spent so long not talking to him or freezing up or her nerves not allowing her to make a mkve or confess that i think in hind sight mari is most frusterated because most likly adrien fell for someone wbo talked to him and got to know him whkle she was dragging her feet.
And msybe if mwri had mde a move earlier she would have adrien by now...or even if sh had continude getting closer to adrien instead of confessing and making things odd right when everything ws finally going swimmingly.
I hope mari's jealoysy shows more often cuzshe'll probably wonder who and when. Iwonder if mari wil avoid adrienandif mari will realize doingthat is unfair?
I think nino will be sypathetic, a little surprised but he would not be happy if mari stops treating adrien like a friend just because she wa heartbroken as nino knows hkw much adtien admirez mari and needs friends.
I agree with what mari suspects alya will act like as in alya's eyes adrien is first mari's love interest and then he is alya's friend. Adrien's rejectikn wasnt a full rejection and if he does love someone else its good that he was honest but hopfully alya doesnt guilt trip adrien or makehim feel bad or also stops talking to adrien to support mari because while that is what best friends tend ti do, none of them actually asked about adrien's love life or crushes and he is akso their friend andcutting him ofc jus because he said he loves someone else would be unfair

Wow the First half of the chapter Made me super happy I was like oh yeah this could be it! But then you broke my heart and I was like super crying. I hope Adrien knows what a giant idiot he is and Marinette gives him a piece of her mind when he finds out that she is ladybug
