Sorry for having taken so long, I seemed to have an extended sabbatical. This chapter has taken a turn to for a horror story. The cave sequence reminds me of the British horror film The Descent and the Half-Life 2 mod Dear Esther. At first I thought you titled your chapter in reference to adrenaline in combat, the proverbial bloodlust in a fight but the chapter's second half added much more to the title. Jeez, the bleeding elf on the altar reminded me of Conan the Barbarian(1982) and the TV series Supernatural. Thanks for introducing a new opponent, a terrifyingly powerful opponent. Again, your character banter and knowledge in military matters shines supreme here. Splendid over all. Are those MPAT-QR-T rounds HESH (High-explosive squash head)?

The way your writing the red flag exercises were they simulated fire or did he just blow a American F-16 out of the air with live fire ?

Is this story ever gonna update? There is a lack of quality Gate stories and it'd be a shame if this one died.

I really enjoy your naturalistic writing of a special forces patrol and the banter within the group. Towards the end, the moment of compassion really contrasts the aftermath of the slaver caravan assault but the ending still reminds us that they are hard professional warriors with a mission. Now they are about to confront their greatest challenge yet in the form of a legendary warrior.

As for chapter 9, I like the moment of levity, the awkward way of Ryu founding out about the truth of last night, much to his relief, the jetflight dreams/flashback, and the mission prep and departure. I even had to tune in to Linkin Park's Castle of Glass for the departure and drop.

The detailed special forces fighting is very nice, kind of depressing cause the main character constantly feels pain. Are the soldiers going to have some more interactions with the locals later? The rescued elf should give an interesting story while being extremely grateful. You could describe the fighting from the views of friendly Imperials or the enemy to get a different perspective, be nice to know how they view the modern military and the destruction they bring. To the modern soldiers the weapons and coordinates are just a bunch of numbers and letters, but the locals can give their own descriptions.

I like this SOF POV & their detailed story in jietai operation.
They're not just guys running around with guns and shooting at the hostile locals , they prepare & lay the foundation for bigger operation.

And i'm still amazed it fits seamlessly to the canon/original story
Judging from the Season2 of the anime , it makes sense for Jietai to prepare for asymetric/unconventional warfare to prevent chaos & rebellion in Pina's regime

But , i still don't understand this.
If the Imperial forces joined this , how will they keep up with our world 'precision & coordination' military op ?
It will take significant amount of training to familiarize them with our SOP , especially in this kind of operation ... Combined Operation

The plot thickens. He's a cold piece of work in the final parts. So they fund their activities with slave trading, reminds me of the Masters of Slaver's Bay in A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. So the recon team have to map the terrain and targets to make the high-tech weapons work. Will we finally see some air strikes/artillery strikes on large enemy clusters later? Maybe Cora's people can also help scouting the waters.
