There is a lot that’s good with this start of a story, some that is awkward.

The grain of time sand and the flashbacks to the present are awkward, as is Harry’s use of obliviation. I don’t think he knows it as a 5th/6th year and even if he did, I doubt he’d use it so casually. Encountering the Marauders with the Black sisters is also a glitch, but artistic license could deal with that.

But on balance there is a lot that is creative here.

This was an interesting time travel story what with Harry being closer to the Blacks instead of the Potters. I especially enjoyed Cygnus's character and the concept of temporal sand. Its quite sad that you decided to leave it but thanks for sharing anyway!

so harry has no way of knowing or even suspecting that he's time traveled at this point, (since he was stunned), yet the first thing he says is 'what year is it?' and in the very next paragraph you say that harry believes going decades through time is impossible. so even if he did think he had TT'd why would he ask what year it was? and after asking the question, the minister just says 'he must have hit his head'. after they had just said there was no way this kid could have broken into the office, and there was a lot of strange magic in the air. The amount of anti-logic in just the first half of this first chapter is staggering. the author must be a wizard.

It feels quite stilted so far. Like it's part of a script - not natural progression. Cygnus also makes a lot of ridiculously accurate claims without the proper prior knowledge required to make them.

an interesting take on a commonly used theme...Harry ends up back in time with his parents - let's mess up everything, make Bella not so crazy and evil, mess up Lucius, etc...
