Reviews for The House of Potter Rebuilt
HMRoberts chapter 8 . 7/23
This story... was a true Gift.

The most original, intriguing and (especially!) well-written HP FF tale I've ever read. Period.

What a magnificent adventure!

My deepest thanks, to you, Wordsmith.

Your (New) Constant Reader,

Sure, I've seen the "castle in the air" trope before. But while reading this story, I didn't care. You used it (and archaeology, and other devices) to bring back the wonder, the magic of magic. The time when we were young enough that we not only didn't already know what was around every corner, we perhaps couldn't even guess.

Now I admit it, I am a fan of well-written romance stories about relationships I like. But this . . . even without my Luna-suspicions, this story was already a romance, between Harry Potter and the Wide Wide World.

I do not know that I have ever posted more than one review to the same story before. But this time I had to. Bravo.
Sparrow White chapter 2 . 6/24
I want you to know, I was combing through Master Old-crow's so-far-so-good list of Favorite Stories, and I chose this story to read because someone on this site said that you were a good writer, only I cannot remember who it was . . .

So, two chapters in, and I don't know what I just read, and I mean that in a very positive way.

I've been a fan of the scientific method, as applied to things that aren't science, for decades. Is Harry doing that here? Maybe not. Maybe he's just following his curiosity and his passion. I have met humans who seem to have no passion for anything in this world, or any other world that I can conjure up for them. It seems profoundly sad to me. You said: "How could anyone not find some kind of magic to adore?" I think that that's exactly right. The engine, or at least the mainspring, of the best lives. I imagine that even Carl "Professional Skeptic" Sagan had some secret magic he adored in his work, even if he didn't call it that.

I've read stories in which a change to Harry changes the lens through which he looks at Hogwarts, and life in general. Some of those have been very exciting, or very sensual. But in this tale, the new lens is so simple, and yet so . . .

This version of the Flamels may be my favorite yet. Once you're old enough, why suffer fools? Non-professor Spurl is non-spurious. And Dumbledore's ghost is a nice touch. Even the Veil isn't curtains for him. :-)

I thought that this story might be . . . dry? Stilted? Lacking in wonder? Whatever I was worried about, it isn't here.

Now I'm thinking that the only real mate for *this* Harry would be Luna Lovely herself. I shall just have to read on . . .

Wonderful story. I love seeing the exploration of Harry and the world other than Voldemort and hogwarts. Thank you

Dear Oliver (and Oliver):

When the next one rolls around (unless it's been done) go for the middle name Hardy. Trust me on this; it'll win points with the Muggle-born and Mugge-raised!

Great story, thank you.

To start a story about chocolate frogs and end it with no real direction to the story is a brave thing to do. You seemed to pull it off with brutal and unforgiving characters, smooth transitions and grossly understated gruesome scenes. Also, I wish your Hermione got more credit in the story with basically pulling off magical TED talks before her second year, an incredible concept that kept your story interesting and made it easy to fill in any plot holes. Well done!
