I don't see how nobody recognized that quote it's EASY!
It's from the Etamon/Datamon Arc in 01 right before Tai passes through the firewall to save Sora, after he learned he isn't invincible in the digital world. Agumon offered to help him but Tai refused, stating that quote, fun fact, that was also the first time Tai's crest glowed, not counting SkullGreymon. Great chapter by the way!
Hope you post the next chapter if you ever get your spark in writing back.

Hikari's powers are... well not explained, but elaborated on in the novelization, but good luck getting ahold of it.

A rough summary : Courage, Friendship, Love, Knowledge, Sincerity, Reliability, Hope? Characteristics (or close enough anyway, regarding Friendship and Hope). The Adventure novels reveal why it's different - while the other children have special qualities (although Hope isn't included between these qualities) that contain a hidden potential within, Hikari has a special power, which has the same meaning in the Digital World as life, and calling her crest Light was the easiest way to represent that.

tl;dr Hikari was born a magical girl with supernatural powers 100% unrelated to the digital world at all and whatever picked the chosen found her and appropriated her.

I am actually rather convinced on her 13-16th birthday some kind of tiny fuzzy animal will try to give her a magical pen to transform into a revealing dress to fight demons or something.

Hopefully whatever writers block is keeping you away from this clears up, keep up the good work.

So would Veedramon be Davis' partner in this story at all?

Very nice approach to the story between young Davis and Kari. A new take on the whole Odaiba invasion incident.

Very exciting! And well paced too! I really like that Davis figured out that Kari is the eighth child. And I am SO adoring Veemon's role. You can already see he's a bit conflicted about what he's doing. I'm very interested to see where you take all this. It has a wonderful flow to it. Looking forward to more, you are doing an excellent job!

Holy Digigod, this chapter was fantastic! Davis is such a valiant warrior/trooper fighting against the evil Digimon and protecting Kari with his very life. Such a powerful quality to have for a 9-year-old! And his unmistakable kindness and concern for Kari is so pure. Please let them both be all right now that they are separated.

When the pink light from the Digivice glowed, shouldn't have Phantomon realized that Kari is the 8th Digidestined? Guess he really is not the brightest tool in the shed if didn't recognized that the Digivice responded to Kari's cry.

And I also wonder what Veedramon's next move is since he let Tai and Metalgraymon go? I wonder if he'll go to Myotismon where Davis will be to confront him and try to do something?

The battle with Veedramon was great. I'm starting to think that supposedly, like Gatomon, he's in the real world looking for some kind of purpose of meaning or find someone he's been waiting as well.
I also wonder how the others will think of Davis when he joins in with the Digidestined.
Hope the kids will be fine on their own.

I'm once again sorry for criticizing you earlier and want to offer my thanks for writing a story like this. You've even inspired me to do an Invasion Arc of my own at some point. Not sure whether I want to do it in an OC fic or a canon fic (maybe you can give me some advice). I look forward to reading the rest of your work for this fic.
