On a nostalgic note a came to re-read this story and imagine my shock and immeasurable delight when I’d seen you’d updated. I honestly have no idea how I missed so many updates/chapters; the funny thing is it was also December when I first read this story and once again I’ve missed your activity by months. Still, I want you to know how happy it made me to read all chapters, I love Zuko & Azula in this, I especially appreciate the flowers’ symbolism, I have a weak spot for it. My fav line was when Zuko said , "Fire lilies. I would give him millions if I could." “...every ounce of it.” Way back in
chp 5.
Anyways hope you’re doing well in your life, I hope you come back soon
Litowly chapter 4 . 10/16/2019
Since I got hella time to kill from the end of my shift (jk I'm only getting 4 hours of sleep tn, figured I might make it worse), I might as well provide a good old review of your older chapters! So let's see, this chapter is particularly interesting because it's our first look into Azula's perspective. I see that you are a fan of Dominion, I can see it's influence here ;). Something I really enjoy is Azula's self awareness in this chapter. There are some subtle implications here that Azula realizes in the back of her mind what her father truly thinks of her, that he really doesn't care for her. But still, she chooses to follow him. And why? Because it is only way she has some semblance of love, family and kinship, and something is better than nothing. Zuko and Ursa reject her, they don't support her, so she only has, well, their father. I like this interpretation of her since in the show, there wasn't enough shown about how Azula felt neglected by her family in her childhood, but again this makes sense since the show is mostly from Zuko's perspective.

Let's move on. Annnnnd, Ursa decides to poison herself. God damn, I really want to punch her in the face (Damnit Azula why didn't you punch her for me). All she can tell her daughter after Azula returns to her, almost a decade later and after all her hardships is, sorry daughter but I'm joining Zuko in the afterlife where we will be a happy family together without you, cya later monster! Oh also plz forgive me. As if Azula wasn't traumatized enough from Ursa's treatment of her during her childhood, Ursa now basically says that she would rather kill herself rather than send some quality one on one bonding time with her daughter. A parenting Ursa, you and Ozai should get gold awards for messing your kids' lives up. Gotta love Azula's reaction to it, "as if Azula was such a saint offering forgiveness left and right". Reading this made me laugh. Azula is likely the last person you ever want to ask forgiveness from. It kind of shows how out of touch Ursa is from her own daughter and never really understands her.

And finally the last part, Azula's thinking about making out with her bro, about damaging him like she is damaged by their father. But she shows restrain, which is remarkable considering what her father has been putting her through. I think this actually shows how much Azula in this story cares for Zuko deep inside. If she wanted to, she could have forced herself upon him, which at first you would think would not be out of character for her, since she does like hurting Zuko. But she doesn't, she wants to leave him pure and untainted unlike her. I think for me this represents how just like in the show, Azula does a soft spot, love in specific, for her brother buried deep inside her. Every opportunity she has to hurt Zuko (which she has plenty of), she decides not to and restrains herself. Now only if Zuko could open his god damn eyes to see how much Azula's been saving his sorry ass time and time again.
Dressyone22 chapter 3 . 8/8/2019
So did Zuko somehow just posses his younger body or something? It seems like there are two different timelines happening here.
mememysleep chapter 13 . 7/21/2019
Good update. As always, I really enjoy your writing. So the last two chapters we find out the rumor on the street is that Azula is dead. I'm assuming that this has something with the fact that no one knows what happened to her after the rebels attacked her and Ozai at the the end of the previous chapter. Knowing Ozai however, this might be a plan for Azula to infiltrate the rebel bases while everyone thinks she is dead so that she can bring them down. We already know that Ozai uses Azula to do his dirty work so this isn't out of the realm of possibility. And killing Azula is no easy feat, so I doubt just a group of rebels could this. Like I said in my last review, I'm also always glad to see more Mai. And now with Zuko returning back to the fire nation, maybe this will be start of a love triangle?... who knows. Azula and Zuko haven't crossed that barrier yet. And does Kyuo also have some mother issues? Zuko and him might be more alike than we think. Good work with this chapter:).
N3phtys chapter 13 . 7/21/2019
Is Azula really dead? I understand you're playing with that trope intentionally, but I'm really confused at this point, irregardless if she's secretly alive or really permanently dead.

Her 'death' was such an important change in all plots, but also stopped some plots completely in their tracks. If she's really dead (in the current timeline) some parts of the earlier chapters regarding her suddenly become 'unbound', causing a narrative break here.
Guest chapter 13 . 7/15/2019
Good story, glad i found this! This story reminds me of classic ff stories like Snow and Dominion and also tv show like GOT, and am very interested in where you go next with plot. And having zucest endgame is cherry on top. Sometime I get little confused with plot so I hope you will make it easier to understand whenever shit hits the fan :) But I like very much, I want to have Zuko and Azula be happy ! Poor babies :(
Josh Spicer chapter 13 . 7/15/2019
I don't quite understand. The description's getting flowery and it's kinda hard to follow. I got the jist of it that Azula died and now Ozai's pissed, of course. Mai is recovering by falling into nobility. Zuko's pissed and trying to save the world. I don't see him becoming Ozai yet but his whole plan seems hidden, which is fine but annoying. Piandao and Iroh aren't able to break him out of his reverie, and otherwise, it feels like him leaving was a waste of time in the first place.

Azula's not dead.
Litowly chapter 13 . 7/13/2019
Hi Litowly here! Pleased to see an update from this story ;). Please don't tell me that Azula is dead! I wanted her to deliver an ass whooping to everyone in this story, preferably Zuko, but still everyone in this story deserves a good old fashioned butt spanking from Azula's blue fire (but then Azula forgives Zuko and starts making out with him JK JK). But still I will always stand by the fact that there every good Avatar story involves Azula kicking someone's ass.

And dang, look at Zuko, he's become quite the war hero huh? But I have a feeling that coming back to the fire nation and having a good old family reunion with daddy is going knock him down a few pegs (I still love Zuko but dang does it seem like he is slowly going crazy and following the footsteps of his dear old dad). And I also think that daddy will be pretty happy to learn that his own son is the source of the black fire that he has been using for his war efforts. Who knows? Maybe Ozai will make Zuko into his own personal energizer bunny battery and force him to pump out more black gas so that Ozai can go conquer more nations. I mean who would say no to having their own free black fire machine on standby, definitely not our favorite megalomaniac father of the year Ozai! Now that would be a terrible fate for Zuko, having traveled all the way back to the past only to be stuck for the rest of his life as Ozai's personal battery. Ugh typical Zuko, our poor hero always has the worst luck, doesn't he?

As you might have figured out by now, I mayyyyy have had a couple drinks too many before writing this review. But what else can you expect from a 3am review! But nevertheless, I want to commend you on your work. I did notice some typos in this chapter, but still fantastic job! I see that there are new plot lines starting to grow, new mysteries that are begging to uncovered and more headaches for our favorite fire sibs! I await more!
