Ah! That authors note at the end was like getting dunked in a bucket of ice water. I mean...here I am reading about this fantastic story...when you remind me of Marineford. Marineford! Ugh...what a wake up call.

And cheesily enough, speaking of wake up calls I love the deeper insight into Ace’s condition. I’ve read lots of fics where his narcolepsy is included, but this might be the first where the symptoms were really explained and the whiteboards made an effort to deal with them. I loved how protective they got! Really fun to read.

I was so happy, until I read the first sentence of your authors note. SO HAPPY, DAMMIT.

Actually, every time I read a happy fanfic with Ace in it I finish it by saying "and then it turns out that somehow what happened here averted Marineford and Ace totally didn't die at all." Because you just cannot be a part of the One Piece fandom without applying that logic to any damn fic you can get your hands on.
