Absolutely wonderful story that I only found today. I love how you weaved so much of the canon into this alternate version. Let's hope the writers can find a way to weave Tom back into the Blacklist soon.

I was on my way to bed when I saw the update and stopped everything. This was utter perfection. I love how awkward they are around each other... willing to move forward yet smart enough to know there's no going back. A large part of me wishes the show had gone this direction. It was absolutely wonderful.

I thought you'd mentioned that this was the last chapter. I'm hoping there'll be at least one more to wrap everything up and see Liz and Jacob have a good, honest talk.

Love your work, I did find his reaction to Gina's death too emotional but I understand that it's hard to write a character as emotionally out of sink as Jacob. The hard part I think is finding the detachment from everyone else except Liz. She is his emotional window so to speak. Think about what he does for a living... What does its take to do what Jacob does so seamlessly , I mean really think about it ;what kind of person could become someone's friend, eat with their family and if the job called for it slit their throat and watch them choke on their own blood?
Think compartmentalization, Jacob has always had an end game to all his jobs except Liz, everyone else there was a clear end in sight, with Elizabeth their was no end in sight and you can't keep yourself mentally aloof forever. At least that's my theory. Keep up the great work.
