Kisaragi Senketsu chapter 10 . 10/13/2016
I totally knew that last line was Link. And when you described the ocean, I did expect Allen to walk into it and not come out.
I'm sure you've noticed you've got a new fan. So sorry to be so creepy, but I can't help it. XD

CH10
Summary:
This chapter takes place sometime after the defeat of the Earl, long enough that Allen and Kanda's injuries have healed. However, given the topic of conversation between Link and Reever, the final battle was fairly recent. Allen's madness has significantly progressed, as is evidenced by his need to redirect his thinking multiple times when he begins to worry about his friends. The effects of Kanda's overuse of his curse are beginning to show their effect, as is evidenced by his painful coughing, and it seems likely that he would not live much longer even if the events of this chapter did not take place. Link and Reever are determined to continue to care for Allen and Kanda, but while they are sleeping, Allen and Kanda sneak out and commit suicide by jumping off the cliff.

Comments:
Considering that even in the last chapter Link and Reever were worried Allen may kill himself, what on earth were they thinking making camp on high cliffs? *mumbles something incoherent about over-stressed idiots*

It makes sense that it would be Link at the end, but it actually works fine for either him or Reever.

A very good ending to an excellent story. Thanks for sharing it! :)

Summary:
The while chapter is third person from Allen's perspective. In the time between this chapter and the last, Cross and Tiedoll have perished in the fighting, leaving Allen, Kanda, Timothy, and Lavi as the only remaining Exorcists. All of the Noah except the Earl have been eliminated and most of the Order seems to have scattered except for Link and Reever. In their forest campsite, Link and Reever discuss this state of affairs and contemplate what to do. Reever has doubts about sending the Exorcists to fight the Earl, but Link is adamant it is necessary. Reever ultimately agrees and the tell Allen the plan.

In the second half of the chapter is the final fight with the Earl. Here it is revealed that at least part of the motivation of Mana in removing Neah from Allen was to free him to be with his friends, indicating that he did care about Allen at least some. In the fight, Timothy was killed and Lavi was severely injured. Finally, Link and Kanda are able to immobilize the Earl long enough for Allen to exorcise/kill him. Allen blanks at the end of the chapter.

Comments:
In the conversation between Link and Reever, I'm surprised the fact that getting this far and then /not/ killing the Earl would be a waste of all the sacrifice made so far. It seems a pretty relevant point.

Link and Reever and Lavi are worried Allen may kill himself. Well considering what happens next, i can't say I'm surprised. It's touching how close Link has become to Allen as a result of taking care of him. Having to constantly push Allen into battle must be tearing him apart; I'm surprised he comes through it as well as he does. Although, I can't help but wonder how much longer he lives after the events of the last chapter.

It's very tragic how Mana actually meant to help Allen by removing Neah from him and instead pushed Allen to the point that he broke. It's also...so in keeping with their relationship in general. *sad*

Although the author's note in the next chapter suggests that Lavi dies here, the text of the two chapters doesn't make it clear whether he was just severely injured or actually died.

Allen's sword supposedly only eliminates the evil inside of people and leaves the rest untouched. Although we've already seen that it doesn't work /quite/ that simply, it has never actually been shown to be able to kill someone. Why would it be different on the Earl?

CH8
Zolako goes mad, perhaps after a failed mission given the number of dead, and proceeds to go on a rampage. In order to stop him, it is necessary for Allen to fight, but he refuses since Zokalo is a fellow Exorcist. When Link presses Allen, Kanda retaliates by injuring Link. However, this, along with Cross's anger is enough to get Allen to join the fight. Allen and Kanda are finally able to immobilize Zokalo after and intense fight and Cross kills him to get him to stop his rampage. The following people were killed either by Zokalo or the mission that drove him mad: Bookman, Miranda, Komui, Chaoji.

Comments:
I'm wondering where Tiedoll is again. Shouldn't he be helping?

The way Allen dissociates himself from death by insisting that people have "fallen asleep" is very evident in this chapter. Although it is apparent that on some level Allen realizes that what he is talking about is death. It's really sad that even in this state Allen is still able to blame himself for that is happening.

It seems a tad extreme that they immediately jump to needing to kill Zokalo rather than trying to stop and rehabilitate him, although considering the circumstances...

The analogy of Komui being Lenalee's North start is very fitting. And as you said, her friends are her other stars, but right now they are very dim.

Summary:
Third person from Allen's perspective. After an intense battle in a town, the Order is trying to pull themselves together. General Nyne is killed in this battle, causing Timothy to lose it. Kanda's reaction to the events and learning of Nyne's death trigger Allen's memories of what happened while they were with the Noah. The Earl revealed himself to the Mana and extracted Neah from Allen after killing Johnny. We learn that what broke Kanda was being forced to watch this while helplessly chained to a wall.

Third person from Link's perspective. We learn on the desperate state of the order and the madness of Allen, Kanda, Timothy, and Lenalee begins to take a toll on those caring fro them.

Comments:
Why doesn't Cross want Allen to pass out?

Why isn't Komui the one who comforts Lenalee and why doesn't Emilia help Timothy?

The comment about there being lots of workers at the Order but very few people is very heart wrenching and shows how bad things have gotten.

Poor Link. Having to corral the Exorcists into battle and then just /watch/ would be really horrible. Where are Tiedoll, Sokalo, and Bookman in all of this? (and Hevlaska not that I think of it. Did she survive Headquarters getting destroyed?) Why aren't they helping?

CH5
Summary:
The Black Order has gathered in the aftermath of the Noah attack. They are still at the destroyed headquarters, so relatively little time has passed since chapter 5 since they haven't relocated yet, but Allen killed Tykki at some point, so a second attack must have occurred (although your author's not states that there's been a significant amount of time passage). Cross has returned and is being briefed. He is greatly upset by the state that Allen is in. Allen is very freaked out by Cross's return, likely due to his experiences with Mana's death/not death/Akumaification. Although they manage to successfully distract Allen from his disturbance due to Cross, he melts down when it is mentioned that he killed Tykki due to his unpleasant memories associated with Tykki and his conflicted feelings toward him. Cross is able to calm Allen after the meltdown.

Comments:
Although the author's note states that much more time has passed than Allen realizes, given the state of headquarters in the last chapter, I would have expected the Order to have relocated if more than a few weeks had passed. Not that this actually matters to the plot development.

I like how they are able to keep Allen together by having him take care of the other Exorcists. It is very in keeping with his personality. I also like Allen is the trigger for everyone to freak out. It makes sense given the reasons for Kanda'a and Lenalee's madness.

Summary:
Link, Allen, and Kanda return from their mission in chapter 4 to find headquarters destroyed. Krory is killed in the attach, and it is implied that Lavi is as well (although in later chapters we find out this is not the case). Marie and Miranda are also attacked while on a mission. Lenalee goes to fetch them. It is revealed that Marie was killed in the attack and Miranda becomes catatonic as a result. Lenalee goes mad due to the effects the war is having on her friends.

Comments:
As I mentioned in the summary, it is implied that Lavi is dead in this chapter (Kanda stares at a particular body, Allen mentions one body has red hair, Lenalee says specifically that she wants Allen, Kanda (both of whom are /not/ ok), and Lavi (who we never see in this chapter) to be OK. If this is not intentional, you may want to consider changes.

If Miranda is totally unresponsive, how does Lenalee know that Marie was on top of Miranda for hours after he died?

CH4
Summary:
Link, Allen and Kanda are sent out on their first mission since escaping the Noah. Shortly after leaving train station, they are attached by a large swarm of Akuma. Allen and Kanda fight like berserks, without thought of their own well being. They successfully eliminate the Akuma, but Allen, at least, is left with substantial injuries. Link corals them back to the train station to take them back to the Order, the original mission is abandoned. Allen starts humming what we later learn is the Ark song, Link laughs bitterly in recognition.

Comments:
Allen's reactions to the scenery passing the train very nicely demonstrates his limited comprehension of the continuity of events.

I believe Allen's left eye only sees in black and white when activated. If he is blind in his right eye, how is he seeing the colors in this chapter?

What is the violet in Allen's mind about? I couldn't figure it out.

Given how injured Allen seems like he is just before Link stops him, why does he act completely uninjured afterward?

With what we learn later on, I'm guessing Allen starts screaming shortly after this chapter ends. A thought that's been bugging me: if the song is what manipulates the Ark, why doesn't a gate appear every time Allen starts humming?
orphan11111 chapter 3 . 3/19/2016
CH3
Summary:
Allen wakes up as Red, likely very early in life from before he even joined the circus. In an unfamiliar place he believes he is not allowed, he panics and tries to escape. When he is unable to and is pursued by his friends, he hides. Kanda finds him and they are able to talk him into coming out. The next morning Allen is aware of himself again, but when Link questions him about his episode he is unable to remember it.

Comments:
With Allen so out of it that he doesn't remember his friends or where he is, I am somewhat surprised that he still has an accurate sense his own size (i.e. that he is the size of a 15 year old, not a 5 year old). But I suppose there is no reason his memory should be messed up in a logical manner.

I like the symmetry in how Allen's madness has some of the same features as Mana's. I also like how this chapter makes it clear that Allen's madness is forcing him to reveal the more negative aspects of his past.
