That monologue. That is explosion right there from Ema. That was it. I've been dropping in and out of this fandom for years and some fics i couldn't finish because it didn't feel right. But that explosion is so human that i reread it so many times with relief. The other side of her character that people forget and felt so right. Everyone has pent up feelings that will explode and that is Ema's in its raw human form.

It's been over a year, so I'm guessing you've either moved on or simply lost passion for this fic. I'm not going to ask you to update. But I am going to say thank you. For sharing this story with us, for persevering through your writer's block, for giving us such wonderful characters to love and care about alongside the OGs.

Alright, so I began watching Brothers Conflict as a mindless little indulgence. I knew the plot would be rather insipid and the "romance" utterly predictable, but I expected it to be a sort of guilty pleasure thing, where I could partially enjoy the show.

BOI WAS I WRONG.

When I was watching the show, I was fucking furious. Ema literally had the personality of damp cardboard and she legitametly had no backbone. The brothers had no concoct of boundaries of the word "no" (see Fuuto being a rapey lil shit with that scene where Ema was asleep) or were manipulative assholes (see Hikaru taking bets without regard for the harm any relationship would create in a family dynamic).

It wasn't even the plot to be honest. I knew this was based off an otome game, so the premise of 13 guys falling for one chick (who's their new step sister, literally have you never seen a girl before?) was out there. That wasn't my issue with the anime, it was the sheer irritability of the characters.

Anyways, upon finishing this anime I was filled with an ungodly rage, upon which I had to find a way to fix this mess. I was looking around, hoping someone had rewritten the anime or at least given Ema some character development in a fanfic.

So bless your soul for creating this.

Honestly, this addresss the problems I had with the anime in a way that actually builds on the anime itself without drastically changing the characters. You actually managed to flesh out Ema's motives in regards to her (seemingly) deliberate obliviousness as a desire to persevere the family. Plus the addition of Kaito is probably one of the best OCs I've seen. He's actually a likable character without being a Gary Stu, plus he actually lends to Ema's own self ralization rather than being it entirely. He has flaws and that's what makes him realistic. Not to mention Ema actually has healthy relationships outside of her brothers with her father and friends.

I love how you've managed to capture Ema's growth and I honestly can't wait to read more.
