I think it would have been more symbolic to leave Charizard at the same rock Damien had.

I really wish anime would explore this possibility in one of the future seasons with one of Ash's newest catch being such a dick that Ash had no other choice but to release it.
Charizard was a jerk. Ash saved him from an abusive trainer, and upon evolving he became a dick. Ash didn't need Charizard to win that match, he only used him because the rest of his team was exhausted. It's not like Charizard started listening to Ash when he became a better trainer either. He only started obeying Ash once he nearly got himself killed.

I actually agree with you on that statement Ash should've released Charizard's lazy ass that time so this fic is an awesome what if sceneriao. I love there needs to be more of these types of what if sceneriao Pokemon fics around heck i might do one myself where Ash literally givds up Charizard righr away when he was still a just as arrogant and jerky Charmeleon after he badly hurt that poor Paras

Awwwww... that was such a sweet story. I love it! I do hope that there would be more about ash's journey and how he caught all those other pokemon's. Maybe you can make a side story about those. I understand that this story is more central around the broken relationship between ash and charizard so I find how the story ended to be quite appropriate but a little bit lacking... Don't get me wrong. I love the warming moment at the end of the final chapter but the way Ash accepted and the way Charizard wanted to be accepted back into the team through a pokemon battle didn't cut it out to me as much as I'd expected? I was hoping for a bit more of a climax...or maybe it was due to the years of separation that a simple battle can settle all their differences? I dunno. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it. But all in all I love this story very much and I very much enjoyed reading this fic. Thanks for this.
