Oooooh, so I love how you did the first part of this chapter! I love the conflict between the mother and daughter, I feel like it's really relevant to building a darker Harry Potter universe. I feel like it's really realistic to show how even good people can make hard choices and take the easy road to protect the things they love. And I also love the little scene you added with Scabior and Hermione! I can feel the tension, and I love how conflicted Hermione feels. I really like how you wrote their interactions this chapter. I wish I were eloquent enough to articulate my feelings about their interaction in Hogsmeade better, but I can't find the words! It's a really telling interaction for Scabior's character I feel.

I love the reunion of all the characters at Hogwarts! It's a cool way to show that, even when Scabior is in a group, he's still so separate. I think its a cool insight into his character. Like, he's obviously not a very good guy and I'm not trying to woobify him, but I can understand why someone who feels so separate and ostracized would join a group where he is empowered and in control. And the last little paragraph of this chapter is one of my favorites so far; it just shows that he wants Hermione to care as much about him as she does her friends. Sometimes his feelings are so squishy, haha. Anyway, I loved this chapter of course and I am so stoked for the next one! ~~~

oh my god this is amazing

there’s no way that girl wouldn’t have known what her mother would do the second she turned her back, but she left anyway. you always hear about the acts that people commit to try to save themselves in a war, but there’s always people like jane too, who know what’s being done and put up a fuss about it but do nothing to stop it. she could have taken the owl or quill away, but she didn’t. I realize that in a story full of literal torture and murder and worse, a woman sending an owl with the position of our protagonist to save her starving daughter and infant grandson isn’t that big a deal. but that scene really stuck out to me, I’m not sure why. it was well done though, it’s a pretty natural human act from both of them

I am really sorry about your cat. I remember how I felt when mine died. You made the right decision leaving that prick. I liked the chapter very much, especially Hermiones inner thoughts at the end. I felt bad for her. Especially when she thought "This is the cost". It is a very important chapter for me.
