I love your use of imagery "the ruddy hue of autumn leaves..." it's beautiful. I also really like how realistic the dynamic between Max and Kate is, I like how you show Max's emotional struggle with trusting Kate and Kate's little bit of unease with that.

I'm not completely sold on the use of second-person narrative. It was rather rough in the first chapter and proved to be distracting, but improve significantly in the subsequent two chapters. The story itself is interesting and I enjoyed your portrayal of Max; you apply the angst without plummeting into emo territory, although it does teeter in and out of it. I look forward to future developments from you.
