Fuuuuuuu*k. That’s my gut reaction to this story. I’ve seen relatives go through this and it’s humbling and terrifying to realize that it can happen to even the greatest of heroes.

Not what I was expecting, but heartbreakingly brilliant. My lady feelings are killing me right now.

I know this story has been around a while, but I just wanted to say how wonderful it is. I have read and re-read multiple times and it still brings out those "lady feelings", great job!

Wow, Rebecca. I am not usually a fan of the "many years have passed" kinds of stories but I happened upon yours. Excellent story. I agree with tut1971, who I am guessing is only a year older than me. Had me on the verge of tears. You made a one chapter story very sad but extremely happy at the same time. Chuck and Sarah happily together until the end. Well done.

This was so well done. As sad as it was to see Chuck's all-too-relatable deterioration (with no indication that it was necessarily Intersect-related; something anyone and the ones who love them could one day go through) it also made me happy for the long, happy life together they have apparently shared. That, even though he no longer recognizes Sarah, he remembers her as the love of his life and they had that forty years plus together. Just equal parts heartbreaking and beautiful.

Wow, so heartbreaking and sweet at the same time! My wife's uncle is going though the same thing. One minute he is lucent the next he doesn't know who you are, so sad.
