It's been a year since he received the letter from Kate and he still reads it a couple times a week. It's so rare to receive a anything from somebody that moves you to the point that even after a long time seeing it, or holding or reading it still moves you and makes you feel special.
So special that he used the same box from the post office and the same stationery. It is always about the little details to things that put it over the edge. And they definitely are as close as pages in a book :-)
Love the sweetness and pure comfort and love they have for one another.

What a introspective, thoughtful Kate we have here. And so ashamed of her thoughts and feelings with her shutting him out. So great she wrote that in the book!
Yes! Castle finally graced us with his presence. So romantic and impulsive to drive all the way up there but so very much him. Felt bad he was nervous to read the book but once he did he read it 3 times. He's just so perfect.
Loved their kiss especially when it got carried away;-)
Then they went to bed and just cuddled and talked. He is so patient and some times too good. She needs that, especially now with being so fragile and not quite herself.
So glad they're finally together. I've been waiting for him to come back in her life.

So sad and real with Kate thinking how terrible and sickly she looks after the surgery. Made me feel sorry for her with the scars and weight loss. And what would Castle think of her now?
Of course, Castle meant his I love you! I just think she wasn't ready or capable of dealing with that at the moment. But at the same time it kept her afloat and gave her some thing to believe she could have in the future.
Really found the list of things she loves about him so warm, honest. Such a rare, private and beautiful side to Kate.

Just love the great attention to detail you have written in describing Castle's movement, mannerisms. The thought and care was just so on point, and made me take a breather a few times. Especially the part with you explaining Castle's walk and how he turns partway,and the tilt of his hips and the shoulders pulling back a little like he's asking a question and laughing at the same time. And also,describing how he's handsome but not rugged and describing his very changeable blue eyes and the way they crinkle when he laughs. (Thought his eyes were his best feature) So, so enjoy the way it seems you study this show like a college course.
I do believe Kate noticed that on the show as well. And eventually became dependent on it to strive with her job and more importantly to be better, happier person.

I thought this was going to be more on the lighter side. You are jumping right into Kate's issues with deserting Castle and her not expressing her feelings for him. You have her writing this story to him after blowing him off for 1 month not 3 like on the show. But that's still a really long time to shut someone out.
I know she is recuperating but she should feel shitty for how she treated him. What a difference it would of made for her to pick up the phone or send a cowardly text saying she just needs to be alone and can't fully function just yet. Never a sorry for all the grief she caused him, I'm sure he was hell to be around. They should have tackled that more on the show. Anyway, Kate is obviously going through some turmoil here, and I'm sure Castle is as well.
Like how she is taking responsibility for her actions or lack thereof. She realizes she loves Castle and REALLY wants him. She finally has the balls (or ovaries) to win him back.
P.S. No one is better than Sinatra.

One of the very best - the Castle TV episode should have had this in one of its episodes.

Omigod, I am complete mush. I've read a lot of your work, and this is, without a single doubt, my favorite! Reading the book with her as she wrote it was absolutely addictive, and I think I sat in one position through all five chapters. The voice that comes through so clearly and the lyrics from the songs (I even knew the melodies) made me so emotional, that by chapter 4 I was in tears. This was wonderful. This was the best of your writing style, imo, and it gave a peaceful closure to all the angsty, frustrating, miserable episodes of the show, including the entire finale. Thank you for this. I will read this many times, and I will enjoy it every single time. Well done.
