Reviews for At the Foot of the Stairs
TL22 chapter 1 . 4/7/2015
Intensely romantic. A new found love set against a background of violence.

Very well written and now I want to know what happened.

A very enjoyable little break from the day.

This story was so incredibly wonderful! I was so happy to see that you had written a new Resurrection story, Marla! And a Marty and Maggie one! Yay!

I loveloveloved that moment that you picked your story to take place in! It was already such a fabulous scene on the show—one that I’m sure had everyone cheering ‘finally!’ but this story made the scene FANTABULOUS!

Terrific opening paragraph, setting the scene up with everything that was happening in and around the Langston home. Rachel in labor, the mob of Returneds, the ‘nervous tension and deadly intentions;’ all of it painted such a vivid picture with heavy emotions it made the scene from the show seem that much more real.

LOVED the repetition of ‘The foot of the stairs line throughout the story. It held a lot of meaning and also gave us some explanation of why the kiss happened there. Loved how for Maggie it was sort of the in between place, which was where she felt she was, not sure if she should be helping Rachel through her labor or downstairs helping Marty and her family protect Rachel so she stays at the foot of the stairs.

Aww it’s so sweet the way Marty’s concern isn’t just on Rachel and her baby but also on Maggie. “Magnificent line here: he was still concerned with the town doctor and losing the part of his heart she resided in.”

A brilliant and very lovely recreation of that big kiss! So loved how you dug a little deeper and showed us what Marty was thinking, how Maggie smelled ncie and how the kiss was tender and made him melt. LOVELOVELOVED how you described the kiss! How it may not have been planned but it wasn’t a one that was desperate and done because they thought they were going to die kind of kiss—and they both knew this—AND it happened at the door of the stairs. Loved that!

Such an adorable bit where Marty is caught off guard by the kiss, wondering if this was actually happening, if she liked him in the same way he liked her—he liked her, Awww! Loved the returned kiss as well! :D

Awesome moment when Maggie asks him to be careful and Marty thinks about how he would do anything for her, so sweet! It really stinks that the moment had to end so soon by Preacher James and his mob; but again you captured that quick and sudden change in the atmosphere very well! Bravo!

Loved how the thought in Marty’s head following that kiss, is to protect Maggie, Rachel, and the Langstons and when he ponders for a brief moment of what it would be like to have Fred Langston as a father-in-law—AWESOMELY BRILLIANT! That will now be what I’ll think Marty is thinking in that scene even if just for a brief moment lol.

Gotta love that closing line wrapping everything up so nicely! Who knew the foot of the stairs could be such a romantic spot? :D

Marvelous work on this story once again! I so enjoyed reading it! Thank you so much for writing it and sharing it with us! I look forward to reading more from you! I bet you’ve still got a few Resurrection fics in you! Till then keep up the always brilliant work!
