This is absolutely amazing. Seriously. I love Downton Abbey. I've never read any DA fic before but this was just stunning. Everyone's voices were just right, and the the emotions were there, and real without being over the top. I feel like Mary has to be really difficult to write-she's so contained on the outside when so much goes on inside and gah. This was absolutely fabulous and I'm filled with warm fuzzies, and all I can say is that when the last season starts, Tom CAN'T leave Mary, he just can't.

I wanted to read something about these two since I saw the looks Tom gave Mary on the show (you didn't imagine it!).

This fic hit the spot. It was really wonderful. I love the varied repetitions of /she doesn't break/. That sounds just like Mary — always having to be, or at least appear to be, strong. Unbreakable.

If you wrote more fics with this pairing I would definitely r&r them.

This was lovely and gentle and exactly what I want for these two. Mary felt very in character with her stubborn distance, and I was almost proud of her for asking him to stay towards the end. I'd love to see more from you for this pair if you feel like it! And I know what you mean about the looks, lol. I know this ship is hopeless and I'd really like to give up, but they need to stop feeding us with scenes like that. It's not fair!
