EscapingxXxReality chapter 5 . 7/28
Hello! I happened upon this story while trying to find something refreshing and new- which I definitely accomplished. I love the premise of this, and how Sakura's strength came early on from loss and trauma, but you were able to achieve this in what I felt was a very organic and believable way. I love how Sasuke and Naruto are in this AU, and again I feel their personalities really match with the differences in how their lives have played out to far compared to canon, so good job with that! I applaud you on all the action scenes- i feel they're well written and easy to follow. I also have to say I adore your writing style, and was excited to finally find something new to read that really sucked me in and made me forget about all my real life problems for a bit. So suffice to say, I was heartbroken to see your note at the end of the last chapter and realize you haven't updated this in three years. T_T I have to say I was really looking forward to how you would portray Itachi in this (my fave character- hands down) and what you would do with him in this AU. But I also understand the writing insecurity that you mentioned so I'm certainly sympathetic to that. Just know that if you ever do decide to continue this story, you have a new fan eagerly awaiting, and I honestly do not believe you to be capable of letting your readers down in any way. _
Guest chapter 1 . 7/28

EagleHawk chapter 5 . 5/16
Wonderfully written! Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Fear isn't a bad thing, in most cases it keeps us alive, instills the limits we are bound to, and bound to break. However much time you need to break past your fear, and see what could be and what will be (which I believe will be nothing short of the quality you've put forth so far), is fine. Just know you'll have a loyal reader waiting to see what happens next.
Precarious Obsessions chapter 5 . 5/2
Love your writing style and the story!
As for what you said in the authors note, don’t be afraid of disappointing your readers! Write whatever makes you satisfied and happy!
Marching Madly Onward chapter 5 . 4/20
Failure used to be my favorite one of your fics (and it is still a total success), but on this latest reread, A Casket Full of Victory takes the top spot.

You cover so much ground in so little time, blitzing through Sakura's substantially changed background and the Chuunin Exams in just five chapters but doing it in a way that nothing feels forced or rushed into incoherence. In fact, if not for the last few lines of this chapter, I would assume Casket is complete as an experiment in style and tone and a self-contained narrative of Sakura going from someone who is all alone to someone who finally has a place. It's a great character arc that you executed to perfection.

Sure, I still have some gnawing questions - Who was the familiar face (I'm betting on Tsunade having come around on Sakura)? How did Minato avert the Uchiha coup and massacre? Does the Akatsuki exist in this world as Minato's elite team of missing-nin on his payroll or is it just Sasori and Deidara? Just what happened to Hinata that left her with such a unique speech pattern and the fresh bandages on her hands (I assume the kidnapping attempt went more violently than usual, but that doesn't explain the recent finger wounds)?

So there are a lot of moving parts here and unanswered questions, but a case could be made that this is just life. Not every question is answered, and the journey goes on. It doesn't really matter that we don't get to see Sakura's next mission because we already got to see this one. I came, I saw, I enjoyed every minute of it.

You really cut to the heart of being a civilian in a ninja world (even if Sakura does become a ninja herself), the toll of child soldiering, and how Sakura found a family the last place she expected. Like I said earlier, this story does so much in so little time. I have all of these burning questions about the revised setting, but even those unanswered questions work to reinforce the theme of the village from a worm's eye view. She doesn't have all of the information. She can only see and affect what is right in front of her, and it makes for a surprisingly gripping underdog story.

I always felt Sakura got the shaft in the original manga as the least-loved member of Team Seven, and there is a cottage industry of Naruto fanfiction working to change that. Fics like Loyalty or Five Kingdoms for the Dead and so on, but A Casket Full of Victory is my vote for best of the sub-genre.

You should be very proud of this one.

thank you for this story. I know it is ended already and that's fine. I really enjoyed this incarnation of sakura, and even if you never continue it until a decade later, I will still happily enjoy it
