And Serena made her first catch! Yay! A Ledyba is a Pokemon that fits her personality pretty well. Plus I don't thuk too many people would bother with one, given that it's among the least powerful Pokemon out there (Ledian's stats are all abismal with the exception of sp. def.)

And on top of that, Ash also got his first Gym Badge! For a moment I thought that Ash would lose like in canon. But then again, that loss and the subsequent fallout acted as a way to introduce Serena to the group and cheer Ash up, something that isn't necessary here. Plus, most fanfic writers don't have Ash lose too often against Gym Leaders since that would mean slow the story's progression.

Nice choice of Pokemon. While I don't hate him, I think that Pikachu is kind of a spotlight stealer, so I'm glad when writers don't use him much. Plus one of the Pokemon chosen was Gible, so yay! I Can't wait until he evolves into a Garchomp.

Also, Viola asking Ash to give a lecture is interesting. Too bad I won't get to see that lecture in a long, long time...

Well, that's it, I guess. It was a very nice and enjoyable read, and made me want more. Though I'm not going to ask you to continue the story, you should focus on True Potential first and foremost. But once you are done with that, I'll know I'll have another really cool story to look forward to.

And Ash caught his canonical Fletching. Well, a different Fletching, but one that will fill the same role as the other one, I mean. It's not that Ash's Talonflame had that much of a personality (this sadly seems to happen a lot to most of Ash's birds). Then again, this Fletching has a lot more spunk that the one Ash had.

It seems that Ash isn't the only one who got some changes to his team, given that Clemont has traded his Bunnelby and Chespin for a Magnemite and Helioptile. Guess it's more fitting for an aspiring electric gym leader. Clemont's canonical Pokemon were cute and could be funny, but I always felt that they lacked quite a lot of power.

Poor Serena, she lost her first battle. At least, she took it better than what I feared. Then again, Serena hasn't been much of a battler anyway.

Great to see that Ash has all his old mons in Kalos. One of the things I disliked about XY was how isolated this season felt from the rest, with none of past characters or mons returning. Esepcially since Ash had LOTS of mons capable of mega evolution!

Speaking of which, is so cool that Ash is getting his gible for his team! That was one of Ash's most wasted mons, and I'm glad you plan to do more with him.

You know, I was expecting that Ash would get the Froakie that Serena and Calem left behind (I assumed it was his canonial Froakie, since it was said to be quite some time in the lab when Ash got him). Guess I'll have to wait and see.

So, Gary is joining the group? Interesting. Heh, nice call back to the "Oak forgetting his grandson's name" meme. BTW, what made you include Gary in the XY gang? Not that I find it wrong, but it's an odd choice nevertheless.

Heh, it was funny to see Serena fantasizing about her eventual encounter with Ash.

So Meyer is the Gym Leader instead of Clemont? Guess it makes sense, given that it takes a year earlier than in canon. I also guess that Flaafy is the Ampharos he has in the anime, right?

So, Ash and Serena finally meet at last!

Okay, I know I'm setting myself for disappointment by reading this (not because I think it's going to be bad, quite the opposite), but I figured out I'd check your other fics, even if they're incomplete, while I wait for you to update True Potential ;P

Your choice for Serena's last name kinda caught me off guard. I'm so used for every author to give her the last name "Gabena", that I almost assumed you'd use it as well. Oh well, it's not that last names are that important.

Have to say, I love the way you had Ash and Serena rekindle their contact with those emails. Totally blew up my expectations. Not to mention that it was super cute to read. Can't wait to see their eventual meeting!

This is really well written. I like how different this is from XY- not that I dislike the anime, but a lot of fics feel like a cut-and-paste. This couldn't be farther than that. Please continue!

I gotta say, you really portray the characters well, especially Ga-who? But really I hope you pick this story and continue it, for I want to see it through to the end!

This story is excellent. I love how it loosely follows the anime but you've taken creative freedom with it. I would love to read another one now that XY & Z is over.
