You did a great job of hitting the emotion buttons with this one. I'll admit I even had a tear in my eye when Sam looked at the ornament for this year.

Holy. Crap. More than a slight tissue warning. This story has touched so deep and hits home for me, because I've always been asked the same thing Dean has. Like him, I have a little brother, Jonah, who is six years younger. When I was little, I prayed for a baby brother. I got one 9.5 months later. He and I have been through so much, maybe not demon hunting, but we've been through some hard things. Together. And not always have gotten along, but when it counted.
And just like Dean had sold his soul for Sam, I'd do the same thing if for some reason my brother had been locked out of heaven, because he's definitely the person who deserves to go.

I didn't mean to share a huge life-story with you. But your story touched way too deep. Thank you for that. And like Dean, my brother is the best gift I have ever received in my entire life.

This was WONDERFUL! So many brotherly feels and yet as shmoopy as it was you handled the Mark of Cain aspect so well too! It was hopeful in Dean's realistic (possibly fatalistic) way and I just loved it!
