You've captured Gimli and Legolas' friendship in a way that should be honoured. Please do not think that this is just mindless and meaningless praise on my part, but I simply have to say, I am trying to be critical, trying to find flaws and errors so we can both grow as writers... but there is 'none' in any of the short stories you've written.

Awwh old Gimli and Legolas ,they are so adorable. I saw a pic in my head while reading this that I saw on Deviant Art. A whitehaired Gimli clasping Galadriels hands while Legolas holds a steadying hand on his shoulder.I wish I could show it you somehow. Search for Legolas and gimli online. Well your story is bittersweet and beautiful and I love would be nice with a sequel where Gimli sees his beloved Galadriel again:)

This is a charming short story, well written and evocative. I can imagine that it might have happened just that way. Many fanfic authors struggle to write convincing friendships (that's why there's so much slash, IMO), but this rings true.

(I firmly believe the Valar let Gimli in.)
