Reviews for TRIXIE: A Hearth's Warming Eve Carol
Data Seeker chapter 6 . 6/3/2015
Hi

Nice update.

The beginning with Trixie awakning and all is good. The images on her Fireplace that feature Sambra, Discord and Luna were good, as well as Trixie looking at the Chair Glinda was in.

Hiring Snip and Snails to buy some stuff and her apology towards Zecora were excellent.

The scenes where she reconciled with Rarity and Fluttershy, the Diamond Dogs, Cadence and Twlight were good.

The ending with Trixie and Dinkie were great. Its been a year later, and there is a strong bond between them. The reference to Nightmare Moon, Discord and Sambra were good, and it was an interesting plot twist where Glinda appears, her chains falling off and smiles before vanishing. Apparently her condition was more purgatory then hell.

The wholesome standards are high, though I am dubious about two words.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

Hi

Another good chapter. Sombra as the Ghost of Christmas future is good. I thought you would have used Tirek, but Sombra is excellent. He is well done, even though he has dialog.

The quality, references and characterization are great too.

The beginning with Trixie in a dark crystal castle, lost and confused- till a dark menacing Sombra who will show her the future was excellent.

The following scenes are great with Sombra taking her on a trip, showing different scenes that focus on the death of an unnamed pony, everyone’s the lack of sorrow, and now she wishes to see if anyone has emotion centered around the death and Sombra takes her to another place.

The scene with Twilight sadden by the death of dinky was a well written scene.

The grave scene where Trixie sees her tomb and Sombra makes all darkness break lose was a very dark well written scene, very dark, suspenseful, and dramatic.

This is what I think of the wholesome standards.

The language is clean except for two swear words due to the context. I understand why you did it, but I rather you did not. I think one other swear word was passable though.
Everything else was fine.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

You made me cry. .
Dinky... and Trixie too... no one even came to the funeral.
And the thing about how life doesn't end... I never thought about it like that... man... I think I actually feel a little better about the idea of death now. I've sort of struggled with it for a long time... I mean, I'm confident of where I'm going and all, it's just the whole thought of death is still so unknown and sad and scary... I feel better about it now, actually. What you said... it's made me feel almost more at peace with the idea. Thanks for that. (:

I love Discord as the ghost of Christmas Present!
Data Seeker chapter 4 . 4/3/2015
Hi

Great update.

The quality is good, much like the pervious chapters. The elements and references that came from MLP series and the Christmas carol are brilliantly interwoven into the series. The almost religious innuendo are handled well too.

The characters and characterizations were great, even the many characters that only make cameos. I can't describe my view on all of them, so I'll primarily stick with Discord.

I like how you did his character, namely how he was lord of chaos in the past, but now is assigned to set Trixie straight. Its an interesting plot twist where he isn't good, he is just agreeing to it so he can be free of his prison for a short time.

The beginning with Trixie meeting him was greatly, namely how she finds herself in a land devoid of logic and Discord is on a throne, enjoying everything.

Their interaction was amusing and well written, namely how Discord is quite a character while Trixie is whelmed by him.

The following scenes with Discord giving Trixie a tour were well written and flowed well.

The ending bit with Discord's time nearly done, and ends it with drama was very drama.

The wholesome standards seem high and nothing is offensive. Thank you.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

Mere chapter 4 . 3/31/2015
Cut out a bit of time during lunch to read this.

First of all: IM SO GLAD YOURE BACK! The HIATUS WAS KILLING ME!

Secondly, Congratulations on over a million words.

Now, to the review:
Again, you write Discord better than anyone. Absolutely wonderful.
The writing was meaty and delicious, just as I would hope it would be after so much time out into it.
The "black humor" you added... I had the same reaction as Trixie. XD
All the other scenes she was witness of, they were all very, er, heartwarming. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I especially enjoyed the scene with Cadance and Shining Armor. Pinkie Pie was a nice addition to that scene as well. (:

Keep up the good work!

Hi

Nice chapter.

The quality is good in many areas; there is good narration, interaction, dialog, characterization, emotion, drama and a little humor.

I think Nightmare Moon as the Ghost of Christmas Past is a excellent parody. Though a mildly sinister persona, you did great making her a good guy in this parody.

Trixie’s past was well written and flowed well. The various characters from MLP that got cameos are very well written too. Their appearances are brief their great characterization.

The ending bit where Past Trixie begins her path towards darkness was dynamic. It was also dynamic how it hits a chord in Trixie and how Nightmare Moon reminds her that she made her own choices. Trixie’s little meltdown was great too, followed by her awaking in her own bed.

This is what I think of the wholesome standards.

They are better then the pervious chapters. And while I usually take issue with swear words, the use of hell was passable due to the context.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

Hi

Good chapter. The quality is good. The little details that I've seen from films based on the Christmas Carol were good.

The characterization and interactions of the characters is a little better then the first chapter.

The beginning with Trixie returning home, meets her house keeper Zecora was excellent. Zecora had a brief role, but excellent.
Now Trixie is alone in her gloomy house, shaken by some paranormal sights and then is confronted by her Partner, Glida.

Glida was excellent, she carries the chain she forged in life and has come to warn Trixie. Their interaction and dialog are excellent. You did great.

The part with the other lost ghosts was great too, though their chain is different from each-other and the objects attached are not innately about money. The familiar faces among the ghosts was good too.

Not long after Glida leaves, there comes to the Ghost of Christmas Past, Nightmare Moon.

This is what I think of the wholesome standards. Some of the words are vulgar and not essential to a story.
But other than that, nothing is offensive.

The metaphysics on ghosts, the afterlife and such are done well too.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

Hi

Nice parody.

The quality is good in many areas, good narration, emotion, depth and scope. But tiny bits here and there need work.

Though small, the references are brilliant, like the reference to artwork, describing Nightmare Moon, Discord and others.

The character portrayal is pretty good, but there is something missing.

The overall plot is good with Trixie playing the role of Scrooge, Twilight is her clerk and Trixie is s stingy mare.

Cadence being relating to Trixie is strange, but feasible.
Rarity and Fluttershy playing the role of two charitable ponies was good.

This is what I think of the wholesome standards.

The language has some swearing in it. About half of it rubs me wrong. Also, swearing isn't essential in a story. There are many excellent stories without it.
Nothing is suggestively offensive- THANK YOU!
No extreme violence or any other vile content.
Though I'm a Christian, Celestria being deified is passable for something reason. something about the set up.

I hope this review brightens your day. God bless

Are you crying already? XD I found that kinda funny for some reason.

I love the mule and donkey references, then the hasty "no offense." Cracks me up. XD

Apple Bloom? 0.0 what? Trixie isn't a filly when Apple Bloom and the crusaders were... what? Well, I suppose Canon rules can be broken for the sake of a good fanfiction. XD
Vinyl is her sister. I didn't see that coming. Then again, I don't think I mentioned anything when you said that Cadance was Trixie's niece back in chapter one.

Oh my. That "*you* get the night off, and *you* get the night off, *everyone gets the night offffffffffff*"... isn't that an Oprah reference? XD

The Dude. XD

Even a Weird Al reference. XD Is there nothing this chapter does not hold?

Aw.. :c broken off engagement. Boy I hope that never happens to any of us...

Ooh, geez, that ending is foreboding. 0.0 I'm scared to see what comes next! XD

Wonderful job, as always. Keep up the good work.
Sassymouse chapter 3 . 12/7/2014
This was astounding chapter. All the characters are perfect and I loved the CheesePommel part at the end. I wonder who the ghost of Christmas present is. I have some idea of who it could be.
Knitzy chapter 2 . 11/12/2014
Oooooooooooooooooooh, this is gonna be good! :D Hurry and update!
Sassymouse chapter 1 . 11/5/2014
Trixie is the BEST Scrooge ever!

All of the characters are perfect and I loved Dinky Doo's appearance. I also think that having Gilda as Jacob Marley is brilliant. Have a fave and a follow.
Mere chapter 1 . 11/5/2014
*GASP* I'm in love with this. Oh my goodness, it's absolutely fantastic! You're a genius! Ohhhhhh, this needs more readers! :D

You keep saying "feh". I don't think that word means what you think it means. XD

You've parodied (right word, maybe(?)) The original perfectly. :D and using Trixie as the main character was a brilliant idea. Bit of genius I think. :)
The writing is amazing, it's quality. Flowing and imaginative, not too little or too much detail... it's great.
