Reviews for Code Geass R3: Black Uprising -On Hold-
Mr. Page chapter 17 . 5/16/2019
The more I read this story, the more captivated I become. I know everything will be different this time around, but at the same time, I know there will be repercussions for altering the timeline. Lelouch knows he's heading along a dark and very troublesome road, and he's fearful of losing the ones he loves.

The Special Zone gives me the chills just thinking about it. With Euphie safe from Lelouch's Geass, what new disaster will befall everyone?

We all know Lelouch is drowning in his guilt for what happened to Euphie. He doesn't say it, but it's obvious how horrible he feels about it. He loved Euphie, after all. Her death affected him just as much as it affected Suzaku. And if Euphie dies again . . . how will Lelouch be able to live with himself?

I really love this story. The retelling of this classic anime makes the experience feel fresh again. And though we're reliving the episodes, the tension and dread is still there, even with Lelouch's knowledge of the future. The problems aren't disappearing, they're just transforming into new ones. It's both exciting and unnerving.

Also, what will happen if everyone close to Lelouch finds out about the other timeline? Imagine if, to everyone's horror, they see the events playing out on something like TV screen: the SAZ massacre, Shirley's death, the FLEIJA warhead destroying the Tokyo Settlement — all the horrible events Lelouch is trying so desperately to prevent.

There's so much to be worried about, but we all know that won't stop Lelouch from trying to save everyone. He has to try. He chose to come back, so he has to face what's coming head on.

I eagerly look forward to the next chapter.
Mr. Page chapter 16 . 5/16/2019
Again, your writing is fantastic and wonderful, my friend. You truly understand the pain Lelouch feels and how badly he wants to change things for the better. Despite the Laws of Equivalence, he keeps fighting, determined and desperate to protect those he loves: Shirley, Euphie, Suzaku, Nunnally. . . .

The dialogue is wonderful to read aloud. It gives me the same thrill the anime did, only this time the thrill is fresh and I hope that things will work out better this time.

And Euphie's final question at the end . . . that really hit the heart. It's not what she did to Lelouch, it's what HE did to her, and what he hasn't forgiven himself for.

I pray with all my heart that Euphie doesn't die as a result of the Laws of Equivalence. But if those are the rules at play here, is there any hope of saving her, or is Lelouch doomed to suffer again no matter what he does?

Is the world of Code Geass ruled by fate or by choice? And if so, is Lelouch strong enough to save it?
Mr. Page chapter 15 . 5/15/2019
This chapter was beautifully written. The sorrow and remorse were loud and clear. I found myself crying, reading about the pain Lelouch felt for Shirley's departure, as well as the pain Shirley felt in her regret at hesitating.

Shirley's right about love. It's the most powerful force in the world. However, it's both a wonderful AND a terrible thing. It can lift a person's spirits just as much as it can destroy them.

As for the Laws of Equivalence, they're starting to frighten me. If that's true, and something terrible must happen for every tragedy avoided, then is there any hope of saving Euphie? Is Lelouch doomed to lose those he cares about again? If that's so, then why did the Collective Unconscious even bother allowing Lelouch to back to the Shinjuku incident, to reopen his wounds?

Or is there hope for Shirley? For Euphie? For everyone Lelouch cares about? What if he BECOMES the hope?
Mr. Page chapter 14 . 5/15/2019
God . . . that . . .

It's unbelievable how events can affect people, even when we try to correct our mistakes with the noblest intensions. Lelouch managed to save Shirley's father, but in doing so, a new tragedy emerged to sneer it's ugly self into everyone's lives.

Oh Shirley. . . :-(

Very emotional chapter. You did well in capturing everyone's feelings, especially Lelouch's misery and Shirley's sadness.
Mr. Page chapter 13 . 5/15/2019
Poor Shirley. This chapter really made me think: is Lelouch going to prevent the disasters of the past, or is he just setting himself down a new path for newer disasters? I know there has to be a balance in the world, even in re-do stories, but if your will is strong enough, can you change Fate itself?

Can Lelouch keep Shirley alive and mentally stable? Can he keep his dear Euphie from dying? Can he prevent the events that will ultimately lead to the Zero Requiem? Can sheer willpower and determination really change the world?

Also — Lelouch showing his face instead of having C.C. stand in for him. I did NOT see that coming. . . .
Mr. Page chapter 12 . 5/15/2019
That was a big chapter with a lot happening. And perhaps the most significant paragraph is the one at the end, where Lelouch pretty much warns Suzaku of who may be friend or foe.

I wonder how Suzaku will react when he awakens, and what will happen between him and Lelouch when he does.
Mr. Page chapter 11 . 5/15/2019
And so the Battle for Narita begins. Let's see what's different and what remains the same.
Mr. Page chapter 10 . 5/15/2019
Euphie is now protected from Geass. The Special Administrative Zone massacre is now avoided. But Euphie could still be in danger. Lelouch managed to keep his beloved sister's hands clean this time, but can he keep her safe now that the timeline is starting to warp beyond recognition? After Narita, the very course of history may be permanently altered, if it isn't already.

Not to mention, I wonder what order he gave Euphie. . . .

Lelouch will just have to get used to the new changes. He'll have to if he wants to save those he loves.

Good chapter.
Mr. Page chapter 9 . 5/14/2019
Poor Lelouch. Even though time has reset, his still carries his guilt and grief over what happened to Euphie.

But to see him with her again, smiling with tears of joy close to falling. Thank you so much for this. I love Euphie so much, and I love her bond with Lelouch.

Euphie now knows who Zero is, what will happen to the timeline?
Mr. Page chapter 8 . 5/14/2019
Aw, such a sweet ending. I must admit, I do love romance in anime. And for Code Geass, the romance is, sadly, short-lived. Nevertheless, I cherish the moments it happens.

Anyway, Lelouch has achieved victory over Cornelia. I wonder if the Hotel Jacking will still happen. If it does, I wonder what Lelouch will say to Euphie.
Mr. Page chapter 7 . 5/14/2019
So Suzaku's and Euphie's relationship is a priority to Lelouch. Knowing him, he'll do everything to make sure his best friend and beloved sister end up together. That's noble. However, Suzaku still has to become Euphie's knight, and more importantly, Lelouch will have to reveal himself to Euphie at some point.

I, for one, am looking forward to a warmhearted reunion.

It looks like Ohgi is still suspicious about Zero, even with knowing about Geass. I wonder how this will affect and influence the timeline.
Mr. Page chapter 6 . 5/14/2019
Another good chapter. A nice slice-of-life sort of chapter. I hope Lelouch's relationship with Shirley stays strong this time. Losing Shirley really hit Lelouch hard. Let's see if he can keep her with him, and more importantly, if Shirley can admit her feelings.

And it seems Schneizel is not only Emperor, but may also in possession of the Geass Canceller. What happened to Charles? Well, only one way to find out.

And the Fantasy Seduction Club? Honestly . . . that sounds kind of awesome.
Mr. Page chapter 5 . 5/13/2019
Sweet, kind, wonderful Euphie. Oh, I love her so much. But this time Suzaku's unaware of her position and title. Hmm... I bet that's going to be one big surprise when he finds out.

Also, C.C. attending the academy rather than simply hiding out. I wonder if being roommates with Shirley will change her, teach her about friendship.
Mr. Page chapter 4 . 5/13/2019
Orange returns. And with that, Lelouch now has his queen and his loyal Knight of Orange.

I can't wait until Euphie enters the picture. I love her so much. Though I wonder . . . how will Lelouch react to seeing his precious sister again? I'll just have to read and see.

Anyway, good job on explaining Geass to the future Black Knights, and I love how Lelouch's conscience keeps coming into play, reminding him of his guilt and grief.
Mr. Page chapter 3 . 5/13/2019
And with that, Lelouch's queen has come back. With Kallen's memories restored, Lelouch has a precious, beloved ally whom he can trust and plan with.

I can detect new deviations from the previous timeline. Though minor at first, I have a feeling things may spiral out of control. Let's hope Lelouch is ready for this new world, or rather this new restart.

Also, I love the way you wrote Lelouch's character here. His personality isn't arrogant or aggressive. He's still serious, but he has a greater emotional center and appreciation for his friends and loved ones. If hearing Shirley's voice made him tear up, what will seeing Euphie again do to him?

All in all, VERY good chapter. :-)
