Erm, does that mean they never want to see her father before the kids were already rather grown up, as in pre-teens? Because if so, he probably isn't all that happy with his daughter and her husband.

Well, I personally like the parallelism between the bear rug and the Bear cloak of canon (if I even still remember that right). So the Red Death will have a major role in this AU, which seems to be focused on magic as the driving force.
