Reviews for Pokemon: Rivals Collide
Lord-Sylph chapter 9 . 9/15/2019
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
God I was such a Chuuni when I made these characters! SO EMBARRASSING!
Thank you so much for writing this!

“The nobility rise above the common rabble”
xDxDxDxDxD

If I was better at plot, I’d write their story myself, xD

...so, what Pokemon was Hershey? Bea seemed kinda cocky after her win. Interesting characters.

I thought your pen name was familiar. You write the chapters (some of them) for Pokemon: Adventures in the US League by Bumblebee2448.

Chapter review: So is Blaziken's Poke Ball painted with cream on it or what? Nice mention of May. Nice battle. Had me on the edge of my computer chair.
Fare-Thee-Wells chapter 8 . 1/9/2017
Wow dude, that was absolutely worth the wait. I was thoroughly entertained, I'll tell you that. All the characters were done justice, and any liberties you took were either entertaining or expansive (in some cases, both). Will and Jaclyn were both excellent; I loved their dynamic and their individual characterizations.

Some standout performances from Pox, The Duke, and Shellshocker had me genuinely smiling/laughing. Props, man. I'm clearly biased, but I think this is your best chapter yet. Even though many other readers have had chapters written for them before, I think all will agree that the quality improves with every single installation. Again, thank you for using my submission and doing such a good job with it. I hope that ending portion is more than just an easter egg...

Also, from a Patriots fan, thanks for the Gillette Stadium cameo XD
WereDragon EX chapter 8 . 1/3/2017
Once again, I greatly enjoyed this chapter, and am deeply impressed by the quality of your writing. I find that a selling point for this chapter, and this story as a whole is how you managed to put a good deal of backstory for the battling characters in a single chapter like this, making it easy for readers to see who they are, where they come form and why they are battling, despite only knowing and getting to know them for a comparatively short amount of time. I also quite enjoyed the characterization that you've given the Trainers and Pokemon, moreso the latter since we only get to see them for what amount of time they have in the battle itself.

As for this chapter, I am intrigued by the backstory for Jaclyn and Will, with the latter trying to escape a ghost from his past in the form of an abusive father, and the former seemingly emulating that father's behavior to test Will. While it's a plot that's been done before to preface a battle, I think you managed to give it a nifty spin. I'm also quite amused at some of the personalities of the Pokemon, like the Whimsicott, Machamp, and Blastoise, which stood out to me, and are certainly memorable. I applaud the effort you have taken to give the Pokemon speech that is understandable to readers, since Pokemon emotions and behavior in a battle is a commonly overlooked facet of Pokemon fiction, both canonical and fanmade.

In any case, I think as a standalone, this chapter was well-done and enjoyable to read, though it seems that you have a storyline of some sort going on here with the inclusion of Daniel and Caitlynn, who appeared previously in a past chapter. It would certainly be interesting to see Daniel and Jaclyn battle, as the former seems to have alluded to. Anyway, good job on this chapter, and I look forward to the next one.

WILL NUUUUUUUUU

This battle was pretty grand! (Despite the fact we got yet another OPzard X beating a badass Water-type *grumblegrumble*KalosLeague*grumblegrumble*) Anyway, it was so cool seeing Will in action. I loved the combos and the back-and-forth strategizing between him and his opponent. Of course, the Pokemon were as awesome characters as ever - obviously, The Duke and Shellshocker the Otaku Cannon Turtle were the greatest for their sheer levels of OTTness. I'm certainly looking forward to what you cook up next!

(By the way... would it be possible for me to make a second request for a future chapter?)
Fare-Thee-Wells chapter 7 . 8/18/2016
What a conclusion! This was one of the most exciting battles you've written, I think, and you've already set the bar pretty high. As far as the dynamic between the two battlers goes, I think Siblings Collide still takes the cake for me, but the pitched rivals played off of each other well, though each sounded a bit preachy at one point or another. Still, great characters and a great battle!

This was probably a small detail in the grand scheme of things, but the "salty" Volcarona and the ice puns were probably my favorite parts outside of the battle itself. Made me chuckle :)

Took me a minute to get that you were referencing the anime, given that I don't watch that much of it anymore. I don't know what the whole deal with the Grenenja fusion is, but it sounds like a whole lot of cheating to me. #banAsh2016

Don't know why, but I read all of Alakazam's lines in my head with a Hanzo from Overwatch voice. Huh...

Again, I like how you're subtly making all of these battles exist in the same universe. At some point, I think it would be awesome if you did some sort of cross over event with all of the Trainers thus far. They'll form a crime fighting team called...the Quilavengers...Marvel/Pokemon puns are hard, okay?

So hyped for the next battle, I know you're gonna knock it out of the park!
WereDragon EX chapter 7 . 8/8/2016
I have to say that I'm quite intrigued by the concept of the story and how you've executed it so far. I'm impressed by how you managed to frame a story around each battle and do it so well, fleshing out both the characters and Pokemon involved to a great extent, despite the brevity of each little story. Your writing also flows very well and is easy to follow and provides a very good amount of detail. Good work on this story, and I look forward to reading more.
nintendogolfer chapter 7 . 8/7/2016
I absolutely loved everything that you did for this story. I felt so bad for Haley after 2 of her Pokemon were hurt badly before she went through hell. Also the 2 part story gave the feel of a great episode of a TV show minus the week I would normally have to wait to see the 2nd part.

One thing I've noticed over many of the chapters is the great job tying in moments from other battles as well as referencing the actual show. Team Rocket as this dark mafia like force is something that has been incredibly cool.

I'm sure time will heal the scars inflicted from that battle.

I can't thank you enough
Cottonmouth25 chapter 7 . 8/7/2016
Nice battle as usual! Loved how you split it into two parts, as well. And the brief nod to XYZ was worth a chuckle.

The next battle features TrainerNaps?! Hell yeah! Looking forward to it!
Fare-Thee-Wells chapter 6 . 8/6/2016
Oh. Oh dang. There's a lot about this chapter that surprised me. The setup for the battle, first of all. And the setup for the next one...along with the fact that there will BE a Part 2. I expected, as I'm sure other readers did, that the battle would be between Charles and Alex. You certainly have plenty of ideas on how to introduce unique settings and scenarios still up your sleeve. I'll admit that Haley fighting for her own freedom is a more interesting setup than Alex fighting on her behalf from the get-go. Kudos, I'm excited for Part 2.

Team Rocket being recurring antagonists is one of my favorite things about these battles. Their design simplicity as the Pokemon mafia makes them one of the more robust organizations, especially when compared to the flashy and nonsensical Team Flare, and a lot of stories seem to outright ignore that they ever existed. Team Rocket is a big part of your shared world, which is something I personally like.

Gyaragrog? That does NOT sound like a particularly delightful beverage...

Looking forward to Part 2!
Fare-Thee-Wells chapter 5 . 4/3/2016
Having read "Tale of a Legend," this battle felt really familiar authentic in the context of the character it features. If I'd read this without knowing what story it was from, I might've thought it was actually from "Tale of a Legend." I'm sure the author praised this already :)

This is probably the first battle here where I clearly was rooting for one person, other than the villainous mastermind from Chapter 3. Toby may be a scumbag, but he's a CONVINCING scumbag. My point is that I have reason to root for one side at one point in most of these battles, and reasons to root for the other at other points, and I enjoy that.

Oddly enough, that story is the reason I heard about this one in the first place. Looks like it came full circle.
Fare-Thee-Wells chapter 4 . 4/3/2016
Another great battle! Again, I liked the matching up of the teams like in Alex vs. Bea, albeit to a bit of a lesser degree. And being on top of a building gave it a unique aerial setting unlike any of the others. The battle itself really took full advantage of the setting.

I noticed how the relationship between Lyssa and Xavier gradually was improved round by round in this battle, culminating in the end where I assume they're back together. Maybe couples in the Pokemon world use battling as regular therapy...that'd be an interesting battle concept.
