Interesting. I, personally, believe that Cassidy's Ruby and Gen's Ruby where two different demons. They just did not have the same personality, to be the same being. And is was very clear, that Ruby 2(Gen) was working for Lilith and Lucifer. Ruby 1(Ruby aka Cassidy) really felt like she was trying to help Sam and Dean before they turned on her.
