raymond21 chapter 5 . 2m
Well, it's so cute to see Lily confuse about her feeling for a best friend. In the book, off course Lily love severus as a friend. Even the author said she might developed romantic feeling for sev if he's not interesting in death Eater mass. I hope sev show Lily that he Will not join the DE because he know is now what's really important to him

excessivelyperky chapter 56 . 8/9
I'm really glad that Severus and Lily had the talk they did (and I think Petunia is being snarky because she's jealous).

And obviously he's downplaying the risks to himself, because he knows that the Evans couple wouldn't want him to become a squib just to save Mrs. Evans (though as a squib, he'd be out of the war and probably have a lot longer lifespan).
excessivelyperky chapter 55 . 8/9
I'm glad that Lily and Severus are so close now.

But if Severus can pull off saving Mrs. Evans, he ought to tell Hogwarts to run away and play and end up on the staff of St. Mungo's instead.
excessivelyperky chapter 54 . 8/9
Oh, dear. Things are much worse than anyone thought for Mrs. Evans; I hope a cure can be found in the muggle or magical world.
excessivelyperky chapter 53 . 8/9
Actually, Severus and Petunia would probably get along better than they think. Just sayin'...especially since both of them consider themselves basically unlovable.
excessivelyperky chapter 52 . 7/2
I'm glad that Severus is thinking of past this war, where he might actually have a future. And I'm very glad he's adamant about not spying.

But money is a problem, one that Lily never thinks about.

I'm happy that Lily is stalwart for now, but I really don't think she has much staying power. I expect her to start drifting back to James once the situation with her mother is resolved.
excessivelyperky chapter 51 . 7/2
Yes, how else can Albus screw over Snape this time around as well if someone else knows exactly how he screws over people in pursuit of the Greater Good?

I'm sure he wants Snape to be his good little slave again, how can he do that if he still has a heart?

And of course Lily's welfare is in Dumbledore's hands. Sweet! Good leverage there, when you think about it, and with Severus he doesn't even have to spell it out.

I just wish that Voldie is whacked this time around and Albus doesn't have Harry's fate in his hands again. We already know how he managed *that*.
excessivelyperky chapter 50 . 7/2
Lily should realize that it looks like she only likes Snape for saving her family because that's the way it is.

But I'm sure she'll work out a way for him to be in the wrong no matter if he saves her mother or not, because that's just the way she is. She'll always look for a way for Severus to be in the wrong because she is attracted to James, but she's too cowardly to just dump Snape and go with James because she wants to. She has to make sure she's in the *right* to do so. That part from canon hasn't changed.

She'd get over it if Sev went to Azkaban-Gryffindors always get over what happens to Slytherins in about five minutes in canon, why not here, too? James would be sure to comfort her, and Albus would say it was for the Greater Good.

And Snape will stand to take the blame if he's caught with his attempt to save Lily's mother-because after all, he's always in the wrong. He's been carefully taught that he's the WW's whipping boy, because he exists.

Just once I'd love him to tell all those who leech off him and still blame him for everything that goes off to miff off and go play with their wands.

Yeah, they're still friends, till the next time St. Lily gets offended and subconsciously wants an excuse to be with James.
excessivelyperky chapter 49 . 7/2
Yup, Lily is still being Lily. Nobody should be surprised. Snape is furious-but not surprised.

Well, Lily might forgive him this time, but we all know she'll find some excuse later on down the road to go to James anyway. Because that's just the way she is.
excessivelyperky chapter 48 . 5/12
Wow. This is a heavy duty chapter, and of course Snape put this off, because he was afraid knowing the truth would drive James and Lily together, which it appears to be doing.

Of course, the precipitating action is James telling Remus, which he really shouldn't have done-but since when do rules apply to James?

So naturally Snape is the bad guy for doing the right thing. Again.
excessivelyperky chapter 47 . 5/9
All he had to say is that he taught Defence for a year-Minerva is well aware of the curse of that position, and she could easily speculate on what hideous fate Snape ran into because of it.

But Snape has also been carefully taught by Dumbledore that he deserves the worst, because it helps Albus manipulate him. One hopes he sees through this someday, though I imagine that Minerva's words help toward that.

And it's nice of Minerva to think that Snape would be happier doing something else besides teaching, though I'm sure she'll get an earful of why Snape must be a prisoner of Hogwarts in perpetuity from Dumbledore if she asks him about it (though he'll phrase it somewhat differently). It is good that Minerva is wondering how much bullying she ignored because she liked Potter; I suspect she never asked that question of herself in canon.

But Severus is right. The more people who know about him, the more danger he's in.
Sanas22 chapter 84 . 4/27
This was quality quarantine binge read! Thank you!
SolarSolstice chapter 39 . 4/26
Small note but Potter's 16, not fifteen. His birthday is in March.
marietta chapter 84 . 4/24
*sigh* Poor Severus. You know he won't leave Lily and her family, no matter what he says in the heat of the moment. Dumbledore - is he going senile or paranoid from proximity to the horcruxes in his office? Is he so mentally inflexible that he cannot help but play games with others, withholding crucial information to keep complete control?
