freaking lovely
Aelaer chapter 1 . 12/24/2016
Brilliant. Definitely new head canon.
doctorjay chapter 1 . 10/14/2016
Impeccably written character study of all three of our favorite bromance bros. The letter from the soldier's widow was so well constructed and heartfelt. And, clearly, Mycroft "got" John in a way that Sherlock could not comprehend. Sherlock is either too lacking in self-awareness, or just cannot be bothered. Not even that caring lark he has for John let him see what Mycroft does easily. This story shows how much John and Mycroft respect each other, and how much they both love Sherlock.
same ol' Tgirl chapter 1 . 6/3/2016
This is just brilliant.
Random Ruth chapter 1 . 2/4/2016

MoonstarWorld chapter 1 . 2/20/2015
Great story! It was great how John figured out what Mycroft had done. I liked how both Sherlock and Mycroft both proved how much they care about him.
Janara chapter 1 . 2/19/2015
Great story. I admire the way you got Mycroft's voice just right.

Loved the ending, by the way. That was pure Mycroft.
ThessalyMc chapter 1 . 1/27/2015
This is fantastic. The opening paragraphs, with Mycroft ruminating about the type of person John is and their relationship, are strong and beautiful. I want to quote my favorite lines, but I'd end up quoting all of it. It's *wonderful*.

I liked the way Mycroft explained his errand to Jane and persuaded her to his cause. I loved Sherlock pitching a tantrum about the misspelling of his name and John nearly collapsing in mirth over it. I love how John knew that Sherlock was desperate to find out what he'd received in the mail and arranged an opportunity for Sherlock to satisfy his curiosity.

Everything about this works. And it's true to character. And it's *lovely*. Thank you for sharing.
librarywitch chapter 1 . 1/18/2015
Nope, John def isn't a goldfish. More along the lines of a Mora eel. He is just fine as long as you leave him alone but miss with him or his and you find out just how big his teeth are. Love this study of John.
becgate chapter 1 . 1/5/2015
Loved it! ! Great companion piece! !
Scribe for Christ chapter 1 . 9/16/2014
Beautifully and expertly crafted! I love character pieces, especially when there is a clear purposeful plot to them. You both did a wonderful job, particularly with Mycroft! Mycroft is a really difficult character to nail down, but he is written flawlessly. John and Sherlock are also both in fine form here. A little introspection and humor go a long way to digging deeper into the great detective and his ever faithful blogger. Thank you for this lovely story! Please continue to write more!
jackie chapter 1 . 9/9/2014
an unusual and very nice tale. I loved it
nimagine chapter 1 . 8/4/2014
Brilliant. Janie's note made me cry. John's military side is a huge and crucial part of his character and is left out way too often. You've hit it solid here, and for that I thank you. Also, the parallel of the classic line 'talent recognizes genius' in aplplication of John's relationship to Sherlock. I'd never thought of it that way and I love the comparison. Also, the bit about names made me cackle. ;) here's to hoping for more brilliant contributions to the fandom by you two. :)
sevenpercent chapter 1 . 7/28/2014
This is a brilliant one shot with the perfect mix of character insight, plot, pace and interest. From the serious theme to the delightful flash of humour (Shelrock, indeed!) and every piece of dialogue is pitch perfect. As a result, this one goes straight into my favourites list.
