tbh I've kinda lost track of the point of all the secrecy. Given everything Team Aqua has done at this point (robbing a Devon employee, then again, also stealing Peeko, then everything with the museum, and also attacking Cozmo), their supposed image as a peaceful group has to be strained beyond credibility.

I'm glad May's not 10 because Steven leaving dealing with Aqua to a child protag was always way too weird.

I played Sapphire as a kid, but I don't really remember it now, so all my impressions of Hoenn are from Alpha Sapphire. I interpreted Archie's remake plan as being more about returning the world to a "primal" state than being about straight up expanding the oceans. Him using Kyogre over Groudon felt more incidental or just personal preference. It made slightly more sense...? Not by much, of course.

btw what's Steven's excuse for not asking the Elite Four for help?

Good to see you back! And with that, the crisis is over! Eight gym and the League next, then our dreamboat will get kicked off hus throne! Not that he minds, it would seem. Urgh, if it's one thing I'm not looking forward to, it's Steven leaving. Hated it in the games, hate it here! But that's just how it is, so I'll get over it (eventually)!

Amusingly, in ORAS, people actually don't recognize him. There's at least one NPC with the Poke Maniac sprite who, after running into him, comments how powerful and well-trained Steven's pokemon are and then proceeds to wonder who this Steven guy is. Seemingly, the average trainer doesn't know that Steven is the champion (or recognize him as the Devon Company president's son).

The gym leaders do know him, obviously, since Brawly calls him a friend and Tate-Liza call him after May beats them.

Seeing this updated was seriously the highlight of my entire week. I loved this chapter, from May's shelgon evolving, to Steven's POV, to the descriptive devestation of the city (I love how there was a certain, haunting beauty to it) and the departure of the two crime leaders. It was overall a lovely chapter, and I like how neatly it closed the raquaza/groudon/kyogre Arc. Abundant Relations and Aftershocks are two of my favorite pokemon storiesso thank you for updating, and best of luck with future ones!
