Heh, who's to say that the Durin's line isn't the direct descendants of the Stone Father and the Took/Baggin's line the direct descendants of the Green Mother. Oooh now wouldn't that make for a fine twist to the tale. XD The many times over great-grand children re-completing the circle that their ancestors started. *cackles* Thorin would probably faint over that one. XD
