Oh boy, Homura getting her chapterly dose of injuries here, too. What in the world, Homura?! Losing limbs is a fad, now? And Kyouko! You needn't take over Sayaka in bullying Homura-chan!

The first chapter was so depressing, and I thought that was the end of that. So glad to see that it wasn't, though the first segments of this chapter isn't that much better. You trying to make people cry? So much feels... This could well be canon up to the point of Madoka reappearing. To think that this is the happier ending. Just thinking about Homura floundering alone to the end of her miserable life makes one weep inside.

Mami is definitely the reliable, warm and sisterly senpai here. I just love when she's fretting silently, unable to help not for the lack of want. It does seem like her to worry about overstepping her bounds even when trying to help. Silly girl :) Then again, Homura has never been receptive to aid from anyone, while Kyouko loves to shove hers down people's throats.

How Madoka managed to return is going to be a mystery, isn't it? And I bet so is the reason why she took forever. Oh, and didn't Homura shoot her? Guess she's invulnerable, too. Not against all her mysterious, God-like ways, but she never did explain if she was going to stay. Leaving again no matter how happy she made Homura afterwards will break the poor girl permanently. Surely she already knows that.

This is a good, solid two-shot. Again, a happier alternative of the abysmal outcome that was the third movie. You are fond of happy ends, yes? So are we. Thanks for the great work!
