Here's a cute little Olicity plot bunny for you! :)

Setting: during the Season 3 flashbacks, specifically when ARGUS send Oliver to infiltrate QC.

Summary: Felicity saves Oliver from ARGUS.

Slightly longerrrrr explanation...

In canon, when Oliver infiltrated QC, he narrowly escaped getting noticed by Felicity Smoak.

In this tale, he does not escape her notice.

The good news is that right before this happens, Oliver's comms gear "goes wonky" (to use the British Army's technical term for it) and Maseo either loses or never has access to the QC building's security cameras - so no one at ARGUS knows.

Meanwhile, Felicity gets the shock of her life upon getting confronted by a dead man. Oliver starts off by telling her she can't tell anyone he's alive, then he has to elaborate a bit on why, and before he knows it he can't stop talking about the horrors that Waller has visited on him and coerced him into perpetrating. After securing a promise from Felicity that she won't tell anyone that he's alive, Oliver exfiltrates the building with the intel he was sent to collect.

However, what Oliver doesn't know is that when Felicity first realised she wasn't alone in that office, because she was scared that he was an intruder who might hurt her, she discretely slipped out her smart phone and started recording... and she captured every word he said, and even got some footage in which Oliver's face is clearly recognisable. (And at no point does Felicity appear herself... or at least, not an identifiable part of her, i.e. head and fingertips.)

The following morning, Amanda Waller is horrified to discover that most of ARGUS's files - including those related to all of her 'recruitment and training' programmes and field operations - have been leaked online, and the press are in a feeding frenzy. And Oliver Queen just became the poster child / public face of all her victim-agents, with the video footage (of Oliver having a panic attack while explaining the nightmare Waller has trapped him in) getting played repeatedly on every TV news channel.

Within a matter of hours, Director Waller, General Shrieve and various other bigwigs have been arrested, POTUS has given a live address to the nation from the Oval Office denying any prior knowledge of ARGUS's operating procedures and decrying their actions in the most violent language he can safely use on public television, and the domestic and global sociopolitical fallout is only just starting.

The following day, a stunned Oliver Queen is admitted to hospital in Starling City. Hours later, a member of staff leaks his health assessment to the press, revealing the horrifying extent of his injuries and how ARGUS didn't even bother to reset his broken bones that had been damaged on Lian Yu, leaving him in constant agony.

By the following week, Oliver has returned home, and his mother has first arranged for him to be kidnapped and interrogated about the Gambit's sinking, then further arranged for John Diggle to be hired as his bodyguard after he kills the Red Devil Mask Gang. The Yamashiros have vanished to escape their enemies in Japan and start a new life elsewhere. Waller and Shrieve are both dead: officially, they committed suicide while awaiting the start of their trials; but few people believe the official story. Watching the news coverage of Oliver's homecoming, Slade Wilson goes berserk at an ASIS training facility - and is killed when another agent, after witnessing how ineffectual pistol rounds are against him, raids the armoury for an anti-tank missile and blows him sky-high with a direct hit.

And Felicity Smoak is secretly delighted with a job VERY well done.

A week and a day after that fateful first meeting, Oliver visits QC carrying a bouquet of flowers and a package of cookies (which he baked himself) - and seeks out Felicity, presents her with both, effusively thanks her for saving his life and soul, and asks her on a date.

Thus Olicity starts nearly five years earlier than in canon, and Team Arrow assembles two years and several months earlier. Without his various canon ordeals in Russia and on Lian Yu in 2010 to 2012, Oliver is less hardened and doesn't default to keeping secrets, and he's less fanatical about running down names on The List to the exclusion of everything else: he is generally speaking in a better state of mental health - and is actually willing to do something about it, namely talking about things (a little bit at a time, not all at once) with Felicity, Diggle, or both of them together.

...so: what do you think?

Whatever you decide, thank you for sharing your wonderful stories with the world, and I hope you continue to have fun writing! :) *hugs*

Ok, so what is detective Hall's injury? How is it career ending? I thought she got shot in the leg.

you may need a warning at the beginning for computer nerds like me, that the fic was written in 2014. when they started talking about high end specs... well. though a quad core hasnt been revolutionary since 2011... and where are SSDs... erm... yeah... I'll better stop complaining and resume reading. the story does make up for the little IT fail...
Meaningless Us3rname chapter 66 . 6/25/2018
Its very easy to see why this is one of the most popular Arrow stories. From start to finish I've been hooked on some kind of wild roller coaster of thrills and feels. I love how everyone interacts with each other, even characters like Thea and Laural who are more on the outside of the main group. More than anything I'd like to see a sequel to resolve some of the unanswered questions about Roy and Sara, but I will gladly admit that I'm happy with this ending.

The episode Felicity was watching is the reason I have an irrational fear of statues...

Worry too much, you've put the women we wanted right where we wanted them! . If you totally ship Olicity! Your writing style reminds me of the TV series Beauty and The Beast.
