Reviews for An Angel in Disguise
rini anointed436 chapter 14 . 8/30/2019
It's a sweet affectionate gesture from Yugi in gratitude to Yami for tending to his injuries. Misfortune finding Anzu gives this a little comic relief from the seriousness. Bakura's ploy with using Ryou's body seems to be an intriguing point that will set things into motion. At least leaving it on a cliffhanger gets the readers anticipating more to come.
rini anointed436 chapter 13 . 8/5/2019
With a threatening presence like Bakura, there's bound to be some dire times that take a serious tone, which would reveal Yami's background. That's important to provide some content in focusing on the characters. This adds interest to the story's plot with some revelations. Faux's appearance gives this chapter an amusement factor with Bakura being his target. That was heroic of Yugi to push Joey out of harm's way when he could react fast enough to dodge it in time.
rini anointed436 chapter 12 . 3/10/2019
It's heartwarming to see Yami comforting Yugi and giving him emotional support in his time of need. Opening up about his trouble to Yami helps with bridging the gap and bringing them even closer. Having that trust in place further strengthens their relationship (bond). That dark Bakura is one mysterious creeper. His character portrayal here comes across as horrifyingly eerie.
rini anointed436 chapter 11 . 2/22/2019
Bakura really poses a threat with his malicious presence. As their light counterparts, they must have an instinctive spiritual sense to be able to detect them when nearby due to their shared strong connection with each other. That was a nice time that the three spent together on a family fun night. The fluffy scene of Yami and Yugi sharing a bed is sweet...seeing Yami being his knight and keeping him safe.
rini anointed436 chapter 10 . 11/23/2018
It must be saddening for Yami to no longer have a home to be. At least he gets to spend more time with Yugi from living with him for the time being. Getting to know Yami even better is a way for a strong connection to develop between them. The evil Bakura is like a crazed lunatic to be going after Yugi thinking that he's the key to a strong, mystical power.
rini anointed436 chapter 9 . 10/31/2018
It's sweet of Yugi to offer Yami a place to stay when he has nowhere else to go. Good thing that his grandpa is considerate to be willing to let Yami stay. It's a kind favor he could do for Yami in return for the positive impact he has on Yugi's development. That's a nice time they spent bonding over a game that brings them even closer together. The image of Yami wearing pajamas that look small on him is amusing...despite looking a little revealing on him.
rini anointed436 chapter 8 . 10/21/2018
As a focus chapter on Yami, the background provided on his personal life gives the readers an insight into his character. Despite not having actual relations with his adopted parents, it's amazing that he grew up to be the wonderful person that he is with compassion and a heart of gold. Such a situation proves that having healthy interpersonal relations is crucial to one feeling a sense of belonging in a home environment. I can personally relate having experienced not having a bond with my mother. It's a sad, lonely feeling when there's no one at home to understand and connect with you. Being close with Yugi seems to have given him the opportunity to experience being loved and valued...starting with a friendship. It's not surprising if he turns to Yugi at such a time of emotional turmoil.
rini anointed436 chapter 7 . 10/21/2018
The dream that Yugi had is representative of his subconscious: his deep fear and true feelings for Yami. This situation is nicely setup for the two to be brought together with Yugi seeking him for comfort. The fluff scene between Yami and Yugi is romantic ally sweet. It's like the blossoming spring of love. Putting that off with Anzu's interruption gives it intrigue to draw this out longer in the story development. Anzu sounds like a player, which makes it apparent that her feelings are plain superficial and that she doesn't truly care about Yami. Her wilted bouquet is symbolic of her lack of care and heart.
rini anointed436 chapter 6 . 10/18/2018
Checking Yami out seems to have put Yugi in an awkward position even though he's there to help them with undressing him as they tended to his minor wounds. It's like admiring a piece of art. The dream sequence is intriguing, which gives a little background to Yami.
rini anointed436 chapter 5 . 9/27/2018
That's one intense scene where Yami ended up revealing his true heart in regards to his bond with Yugi. As much as it pains you to put them in such an endangeringly dire situation, it was necessary for something powerful to surface. The attack that he used on Ushio looks like the Mind Crush spell that was used on Kaiba after their duel in the first 4Kids dub episode. Apparently, the evil that is Ushio has been obliterated. His strong feelings for Yami must've given Yugi the strength to carry on and find help in tending to his injuries. Bakura and Marik turning up at the right time is a lifesaver. It's possible that a friendship with them could be established.
rini anointed436 chapter 4 . 9/27/2018
To have a crowd of rabid fangirls chasing after him is a nightmare for Yami. It's a good thing that he got them to back off by standing his ground in bringing their insanity to attention. Also, this goes to show how he values Yugi when he cares a great deal about his well-being. It's as though Yugi is kidnapped for him to disappear out of the blue when out of Yami's.

Anzu's little mishap is pretty basic to symbolize those of great misfortune. On that rating scale, I think it falls under 3. Since this is just a fanfic written just for fun, the Anzu bashing isn't to be taken too seriously. I think of this as merely acting the part outside of her original character.

Jonouchi (Joey) would be a nice addition, especially since I've grown fond of his character throughout the series. This is a good opportunity for Yugi to expand his world by socializing with more others.
rini anointed436 chapter 3 . 9/27/2018
This is a good start for Yugi to begin developing a trust in Yami for protecting him from danger. Trust between both parties is vital for a relationship to progress from a connection. Transferring to Yugi's school just so he could be there to lookout for him is possibly in his plan.
rini anointed436 chapter 2 . 9/27/2018
It's nice for Yami and Yugi to have their little time together afterschool as a first step towards building their friendship. Anzu (Tea) seems like a typical fangirl in the way that she practically drooling over his attractive-looking physical appearance. I don't really dislike her in canon as a character, especially when she's the heart of the group and is shown to genuinely care about Yugi's well-being...despite some finding her annoying. During the Duelist Kingdom arc, she had the guts to confront Kaiba about his flaw in character and speak up on Yugi's behalf, which is admirable. Canon-wise, I adore Tea and Yugi as a pairing based on the tender moments they shared together. However, she seems to be a dislikable character here based on the impression she emits. Having her be the bad girl makes things a little interesting in shaking it up. Relationships take time to develop, so it's natural to take a slow pace in giving them that buildup for a solid foundation.
rini anointed436 chapter 1 . 9/27/2018
It's not exactly a copy of someone's work when it's just purely coincidental that some people think similarly. Yami coming to Yugi's aid gives him a heroic entrance into the story, which portrays his courageous character. It would unfold nicely for them to have a relationship development that builds toward romance. They do make an adoring couple. Since this fic had long been completed, this must be its end result when the Puzzleship is popular.

It was a very long time ago when I came across this fic as a young teen, the time when this was in its early developing stage. I didn't have an account then and was just visiting this site as a guest. Rewatching the original Yugioh anime series for nostalgia has brought me back to this. The Puzzleship is the first shonen-ai/yaoi pairing that I got interested in.
Guest chapter 24 . 6/26/2018
