Quite the relaxing time our boys are enjoying! I'm glad they didn't have to settle any major disputes (or treat each others' wounds)!

Cute fic! lol Those kids! Furamir! The girl's comments were the best! Especially about her brother! XD

And yay for more Arwen, even if she was only in the beginning.

I don't suppose the song he sang was that one about the cow and the spoon and jumping over the moon? ;)

One issue, Aragon mentioned that when he was just a Ranger people came to him with their problems. But the people of Bree thought he was...well not evil or a thief but...creepy, I guess? Not trustworthy. And the hobits don't like outsiders either. Not that they had the slightest clue the Rangers were protecting them. XP
Unless you meant the Ranger's families.

I bet they sang the song about the cow jumping over the moon! As always your story was very enjoyable and captures the 'Aragorn' and 'Faramir' I imagine perfectly.

Thanks so much for posting it.

Another great story! It would be interesting to find out if the little girl ever did come to the city looking for Strider.
Darkover chapter 1 . 1/19/2014
Dear Linda: Nice to know that being King consists of doing more than eating cakes, winning battles, and chopping heads off! ;) This story may not have been a tale of great deeds, but it was very enjoyable to read. As is usually the case, I read this story first at the Teitho site, where it received one of my votes. I liked the way you showed Queen Arwen offering sensible advice, and how you showed that she was quite capable of running things while Aragorn and Faramir were on their brief vacation. The scene with the children playing at being king was a pleasure to read, and I appreciated Aragorn's telling the bossy boy that a girl can be queen. I loved Faramir's coughing fit, the children's dialogue was especially well written, and I laughed at the little girl telling Aragorn that her brother hadn't killed anyone-yet! Wise of her to qualify that remark! The moment when Aragorn gave her a beryl and told her to visit the King when and if she ever reached Minas Tirith-especially the part about saying that "Strider" sent her-was a really sweet moment. The homely part about having a meal at the inn and listen to ordinary people with their ordinary problems and joys-such as one man and his wife having a new baby-was very pleasant to read too. You have a talent for making even mundane matters interesting to the reader. It also indicated that since his people were able to lead ordinary, happy lives, Aragorn was doing a good job of ruling, because it is when the extraordinary enters people's lives-such as wars, epidemics, famines, and so on, that life becomes hard for the ordinary folk. Thank you for writing and posting this story. Sincerely, Darkover

Arwens was right. Some times you need a holiday to recover from the holiday. Well written story. I love how they set the kids straight
