Reviews for The Borgia Nun
Nemo Crawley chapter 7 . 3/24/2018
Oh my gosh, if I can find a man who can write me lines like that with such passion and ardent love, I don't think I will ever be able to resurface to the outside world again. But because I am writing this comment, it is safe to assume that I still haven't found that guy. Damn it! You ruined men for me now, you've set such high expectations! But I still love you and your stories

Only problem is she died of childbed fever when she was 39 and married to the Duc of Ferrara
Sleinga chapter 14 . 1/17/2016
I’ve read it all over again this weekend (a " Nico weekend " :D) , i am crazy about this all over again and Charlotte are wonderful on their own and together, the chemistry is everywhere in this. The feast with the bonfire is so well described. The details ! Nico’s self loathing. The « one figure » in the middle of everyone. How you intertwine the past (his first kill , Micheletto or Betta) and the present. I like the moment with his man, Fernando. To see how he is with his men. His crisis of conscience is quite severe, we can understand why. Ambitions leaving a « taste of ashes in the mouth. » His mother ‘s advice to him. The music at the bonfire « the music of a new land. » The party turning to a pagan festival.
The introduction of Charlotte. «Charlotte alone remained. » I adore her. Her wit, her confidence, everything. I adore the two of them from the start. « Lotte. » He growled and caught hold of her arm. » Ahh. Their talk is wonderful. « He speaks to me at last ! » Perfect answer from Charlotte. The chemistry is sparkling. The storytelling is so good. From the feast, Charlotte leaving , Nico following her , to the three men attacking her. Whaouh. And afterwards when they are alone in his room. It couldn’t be more intense. Their talk, his effort to not succomb, her love for him… His reactions to the list of fiances ! Nico can’t resist her, he can’t fight his feelings for her. Goose bumps everywhere. So hot, owerwhelming and well hot. His peace afterwards , i adore the last bit of the chapter ,you give us this new moment between them. Amazing. Nico and Charlotte ahh. There is something magic with these two. His plans for the future, his final declaration damn ahh.
Voila, no missing reviews anymore ;D. I can’t wait for the following of The Borgia Legacy.

What an unexpected treat, this post-script to your wonderful story. Your writing of these characters make them leap off the page and you have invested them both with such vivid back-stories that they come to life as we read. Thank you so much for this, and yes please, details of your book, as well as a spin-off would be most welcome. Thank you so much for this, though. It was really beautiful.

This ending has been so moving, I'm trying not to cry as I type this! I have loved both your stories so much. The breadth of your imagination to weave your own characters into the well known history of the Borgias (and a little into the Tudors too) has been amazing to read. The characters and their thoughts, hopes and dreams have truly come to life in your hands, and I would like to thank you so much for sharing your stories with us. I am really sorry they are at an end, but I also look forward to reading them again, and hopefully more from you as a truly talented author. Thank you once again for sharing your gift. x
Sleinga chapter 13 . 7/25/2015
I have so many feelings right now , great ones because this last chapter is fantastic , giving the story a wonderful conclusion , but also huge sadness because this story is now over , this series and the first series . Let’s celebrate this chapter and the perfect ending of The Borgia Nun. It does also feel like a beginning , with Marietta ‘s destiny. If i have to make a last list of favorite moments well here it is : Lucia’s memories at the very beginning . Only a few words but the impact is so big. Juan , the children , those moment. It is marvellous. It does feel like « the essence of love and marriage ».
The fact that the story ends while it is dawn. Lucia is dying but life goes on. The way you give the reader a sense of how the world changes around them , it makes everything more real , their choice to start a new life so far away. The « spectre of Henry Tudor » upon them , the wealth and different life for Charlotte , Lucia , Juan’s guilt about it (even if we know they couldn't be more happy than they are with him in their life ). I love Juan . Lucia’s point of view about Queen Elizabeth. How things could have been different for her daughter , for England. « At last i thought , i am free. » But she couldn’t , not ever , because Henry became a monster. Her Henry. « It was me he killed , each time. » An amazing line. I am certain Rodrigo would have liked Nico. Discovering the New World with Lucia. Wonderful descriptions of the land , of Nature and a new country. « New Spain smelled green , overwhelmingly ». « I plucked a feather that floated like a jewel to the ground. ». I cried for Juan , his death. Amazing paragraph about his « watery grave ». Like the ones about Lucia ‘s pain and the holy visitation ! Her hands « shapped into claws , frantically grasping for that which they would never hold again. » We learn about Charlotte ‘s life (I love this new impossible love). I would never have guessed the surprise in the end. I am delighted by it. It is so satisfying. The wonferful gift from Lucia to Marietta. Lucia who doesn’t need Juan ‘s ring because he is with her always epilogue. Come on, can it be more powerful and good ( style of writting , storytelling skills, characters ) ? No it can’t be . Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these two unforgettable series.
Sleinga chapter 12 . 7/6/2015
You always find the best introduction lines (and the best last ones too). It is thrilling to discover with Lucia , the birthplace of the family. Places , scents and people. Damn, Juan Borga is a fantastic new character , it is not easy for a man to come into her life after Henry , but with Juan it feels right , from the first moment (well maybe just a second after the slap). His likeness with Cesare is a genius idea. His natural bond with Charlotte is adorable. He is so sexy and we can only understand Lucia falling for him. Not only sexy of course. He proves to be a kind , strong companion. " The sun drenched scent of his skin followed me from room to room." Their burning desire is HOT. " the incubus who graced my bed had dark hair not reddish gold and smelled of jasmine. ". I love that nothing happens before a period of four months despite their longing for each other.
Juan " glorious with his heavy muscles and poet's face." Sigh.
The incident with Charlotte is scary as hell. It seems as if we are next to Lucia , watching the surface of the water , like she does.
" her pallor was gradually replaced by ivory and rose."
The cabin part is my favorite (I do adore every part of the chapter). Full of intensity and passion. It is so satisfying to see her living this , finding someone so amazing and solid after Henry and years of loneliness. For her and for little Charlotte.
"Have you no sense woman." lol.
I adore when she wakes up the next morning and he is already kissing her , kissing her back to be more accurate.
"Your mother had just agreed to wed me , child." Ahhh.
Charlotte 's joy is so sweet. Lucia can bear her family name openly !
Please no, not " one" last adventure , it feels like we could read so many more. I can't wait to read the following , thank you so much for this new step in Lucia's life. It is awesome.
Sleinga chapter 11 . 7/5/2015
I've missed this story so much. In a couple of days not one but two new chapters , it is wonderful. Updates AND amazing chapters from beginning to end. The joy to learn more about Lucia's journey , her bond with Marietta , no matter how many decades separate them. Lucia's sense of humor and emotions too : the paragraph which begins with " As my time has ..." is astonishing. Her loved ones waiting for her. A stunning moment.
Her depression is strong of course , after leaving Henry like she did , like she had to do. We can understand why Louise is attached to Philippe , it is important and fun to learn more about them thanks. I like him a lot. I agree with him about men loving just as much as women. Lucia's rush of shame is moving. Henry looking at Lucia "as if she was a flower grown in the highest meadows , forever out of reach." sigh , oh Henry.
I adore her joy finding out she is pregnant. "He was not entirely lost to me."
With all that happens to Lucia , and your style it is a fantastic new addition to the story :"Showers of gold and orange leaves fell, burying the road in the brilliant colors of a dying forest.".
I am beyond happy to see Betta and Nico one more time.
Charlotte is just perfect , a perfect little girl , a perfect Borgia/Tudor little girl. I LOVE her. " a whirlwind of laughter and dazzling brightness." Lucia's love and pride for her daughter is so sweet.
" like Lucifer before the fall."
The part about Betta , her death is another big moment , " she surprised death" , I am sure she did.
Who will this man talk to ? Will Henry know about it ? Juan Borga ! The face of Cesare , really ?
She slapped his face , really ?
It would have been torture to wait for the following but we won't have too !
coolCbeargrandma chapter 12 . 7/4/2015
What a lovely chapter - full of the scent of oranges and jasmine! From your other stories that description always reminds me of Cesare! I'm glad Lucia is finding happiness at last, with a loving husband and a secure family at this point in her life. I look forward to her one last adventure, and perhaps the reason she finds herself in a convent at the end of her life, not surrounded by children and grandchildren? Thank you for continuing this and allowing us to accompany Lucia into contentment.
coolCbeargrandma chapter 11 . 7/1/2015
Welcome back - you have been sorely missed! This chapter is a triumph of a return though, full of your usual consummate imagery as well as depth of emotion. You now have us on a knife edge, wondering how Lucia's life will progress with her future husband, and also wondering what happened to little Charlotte. Well done, thank you and I hope you are still enjoying motherhood.
Sleinga chapter 10 . 1/27/2015
It is wonderfully written and heartbreaking...My heart aches for Henry. And Lucia too of course but he is the one left behind !
The beginning with her being in his arms , his " mischief face " ...He is so tender and happy...I love how instinctive he is , Lucia is like that but she controls herself , she has too. He is a king , no limits for him.
He is so charming when he insists that she calls him Henry.
The bath scene ? Brilliant !
During these moments , as a reader , I just want the time to stop. I want the two of them to stay together for ever , no more storytelling , noting...Foolish but true.
The paragraph on the desolation of the land around the field is astonishing.
And the comparison with her ...oh it's wonderful.
I adore her thoughts about what she will become if she goes live with him in England.
her dilemma is the same for Jane in Jane Eyre ... Being a mistress isn't possible for them.
"For that was his nature." His fire consuming what he loves. Oh Henry.
The meeting with the Queen is something I didn't expect and I like it a lot.
This woman being an image of Lucia herself in ten or twenty years...And she is a queen so what will be Lucia's position indeed.
Every word he says , every move I find him irresistible , intoxicating. And yet I understand Lucia's feelings too. Because you write so well.
His words to her , his embrace ahhh how can she resist ? I am not logical at all forgive me , I am torn because of the situation !
"My light. " LOVE it.
I love how he speaks , always using the imperative ! I love the " bear me a dozen daughters " line because it is so significant if you think about his future ...Brilliant move.
"Thumbs rough as stone pressed against my temples." I ll never get tired of your descriptions. NEVER.
We can " feel " not only imagine or "see" a scene.
I love the comment about a Borgia and a Tudor who can't love " gently or quietly".
The " memories " paragraph is one of my favorite moment. In only three chapters , you can already make a beautiful list of powerful memories. I love every single one of them.
And the very last one , the one that happens ...How can you stop it like that ?!
I love Marietta with scarlet cheeks. She isn't the only one.
"The colors of the Tudors rose " Striking image.
I love the talk with Louise. The very short story of her affair with Philippe is superb I just need to read more about it please !
Mentioning Cesare , Lucrezia , Charlotte it is always thrilling and moving always.
I love the mention of the Cesare /Charlotte wedding night scene too.
I love how you use it here.
The sword too , his sword , brought back to Lucrezia ...
I almost forget to say that I like Suffolk a lot !
Another poignant , great moment : Lucia acting à la Micheletto. It is so sweet. And fierce at the time. Stradling Francis.
" I was quite enjoying myself". A funny young king. I found the mix of humour and desire brilliant.
The humiliation of Lucia ( it is hard it is an insult !) is extremely well written. We know he loves her like no other , we know why he acts like that and yet we also know she will endure many more moments like this one if she lives with him...
It is painful to speak of the last part because it is heartbreaking...But once again so well written.
"Forgive me His eyes begged."
The gift , that precise ring ( " like a drop of blood against her knuckle " )
The duke surprised by her knife ... the last look between Henri and Lucia. It is ... I don't have words.
The plan going bad. His grief and his life afterwards. Louise being terrified ...if a woman like Louise is terrified it means something.
I adore Lucia's vision of responsibility for his behavior. I share this idea of " love twisted " , his passion and obsession without goodness . Amazing characterization , we have both storytelling and study of characters what more can we ask for ?
I don't want Henry to be alone and live that life ... I don't want Lucia to leave him even though I utterly understand her and respect her for it.
Sleinga chapter 9 . 12/29/2014
This is a spectacular and wonderful new chapter. It is special , like the meeting of Lucia and Henri is special.
I love your descriptions of the field , it is both striking visually , mesmerizing and indecent all at once this display of wealth ( I share Lucia 's point of view completely) .
It feels huge with noise , men and animals etc.
Louise is is such a strong young woman.
I love the paragraph on Queen Claude .You do know how to introduce a character !
The necklace given to Lucia with the kiss and those words ! It's one of the strongest moment ever:
" You are Borgia."She whispered." Call to mind the memory of your father and be bold. Remember your mother Lucrezia and be brave."
We have an another proof of your talent in introducing a character with Henry Tudor. He is so sexy and doesn't lose one bit of that speaking to Lucia or staring at her from afar.
That first vision of him. I love how he speaks , his spirit , his confidence , everything : " a falcon among doves " he is.
"The bright light of thousand candles " dazzling.
Another big moment the "Rise " paragraph.
I love his eyes no longer searching the crowd.
I love her reply to him in latin.
" And yet , this flush." Damn it Henry !
" and there existed a lifetime." Sigh.
I really enjoy your attention to eyes and glances.
The brief meeting with Philippe de Bourbon ( we will see him again I hope , I need to know more about Louise's past please ).
" But then we Borgia never seem to love wisely."
The longing for Henry is beautiful ( his " small secret smile " ).
His quarters are impressive.
His revelation ( having sex with a woman just before her "visit" ) is unexpected , but I like it a lot , it is strong storytelling.
He is direct to say the least. Fascinating man !
" and a dangerous temper stirring beneath the surface of his mind " . This young Henry and the future middle aged one ...It is brilliant.
I found Lucia 's plea very good.
You believe his reaction and his attitude with her , it feels right.
"but my will is a match for your own " Bravo Lucia !
His " little nun " nickname for her ...
She doesn't want to lie to him.
I was extremely moved with the " My mothers whispered softly ..." paragraph. Her four parents , how you talk of them it is amazing.
The teasing about a child ...Their two different ways to see it.
I adore that talking between them is " more intimate than the touch of hands on skin " .
Another brilliant paragraph is the one starting with " My wife. He mused." We can understand him , know him better. Not only a king , but a man. The " incest in my heart feeling " for example.
"We tell ourselves lies , and we believe them for anything else will destroy us. "
I don't have words for this line you know...
And later , his panic , their embrace what happens ... it is flawless !
" I am Henry. Say it. "
I understand Lucia's choice that night ( the several nights of confidence before are crucial ) , it is right , natural and in character.
The ending is perfect. I am dying to know HOW and WHY please !
