I'm the evil beta-reader that if your chapter was on paper -it would be bleeding. Not really, but sloppy work really needs to shape up. I critique, I challenge and I make corrections. I make observations, question 'is this truly relevant to the plot' and generally ensure that whatever I work on as a beta that I've truly done well in my role as an editor and adviser -which is what a beta really is.

English is not my best subject, but my grasp of it is better than most. I will catch the majority of major and minor mistakes. I excel in theory, background knowledge of the show/book, research and obscure concepts that need to be explained in such a way that the readers can make sense of it.

Real life takes time as does properly beta-ing any chapters/stories. So if you're pressed for time, send it to me with enough time and notice that I can work on it. No guarantee that it will be seen to and done by the deadline, but at least I'll try.

Stories that are at least somewhat original in concept where the author has put thought into what they're writing and most importantly why they are writing this story. A lack of good stories, insanity and 'why not?' are perfectly acceptable reasons. The reason better not be because Character A and Character Z are hot/look good together so that more poorly written porn with the barest of excuse for a plot can be written.

Stories that grossly warp the original material and characters. Sorry, but while people and characters do change as their circumstances change (this is fanfiction) but if the story has a miser of a character suddenly become a philanthropist, with not reason or change in circumstances I will send a very angry message that has hurt feelings in the past. Also similar is that if two characters are hot but hate each other and have for years -that is not unresolved sexual tension. It is two people forced to interact who hate each other, no matter how cute or hot they are.
