Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a generally easy-going beta that doesn't like to make people change their fanfiction to suit my views. I don't force others to conform to my likes and dislikes. For instance, I'm not a big fan of EvaxAikka, but I will read and beta fictions of that type without being biased against it. Regardless of what the fic is about, a good fic is a good fic. Therefore, I will do my best to only make suggestions that are in the best interests of the author and fiction, NOT of my particular tastes. ^_^ |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Not to "toot my own horn", but I am really good at grammar and spelling. Also, when I beta, I try to look at how the characters are acting and speaking, so that I can notify the author about original show/book/movie characters acting out of character. (I will not do this if the fiction is purposefully an OOC (out-of-characer) ) I sudy myths and mythological creatures, and have amassed a good amount of knowledge of them, so I can help in that area. And I'm a Dracologist, meaning that I study dragons. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I will beta almost any Oban: Star-Racers fic, since that happens to be my favorite tv show (JordanxEva ones are my favorite). Also, I can do Code Lyoko fics- but only the ones from the 1st season, since I don't really watch it anymore. I have seen part of the 1st season of Digimon, and have mostly seen the 2nd and 3rd seasons as well. I know extensively about Pokemon and their type match-ups, so any questions about those will be willingly answered. I'll beta the following movies: Sweeney Todd, The Matrix 1 and 2, Dragonheart, Dragonheart: A New Beginning, all the Pokemon movies, A Knight's Tale, Over the Hedge, Madagascar, and A Sound of Thunder. Books: the His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass), The 1st set of Warriors books (the ones with the cat clans), Undertown 1, Vampire Kisses 1, Eragon, Eldest, Macbeth, The Swiss Family Robinson, Rikki Tikki Tavi, Dragon (by Ciruelo), The Book of Dragons (the one with the different short stories), and more that I can't remember at the moment. Video Games: Spyro 1, Spyro (for DS), Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: Majora's Mask, Mario Party (the original), Dance Dance Revolution, Kingdom Hearts 2, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon FireRed, Pokemon Diamond, Nintendogs, Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon (Blue Rescue Team), Pokemon Colosseum: Gold and Silver (for Nintendo 64), Mario Kart 64, Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls III, The Sims 1, The Sims 1 Unleashed, and Pokemon Snap! 64. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I won't beta sexually explicit fics, racially/ethnic/politically biased fics, and anything that I do not know very much about. Everything else (including violence, gore, language, etc.) is cool with me. I do not, repeat DO NOT, do lemons. |
