I am a non-native English speaker with a good command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting. If you want to see for yourself, feel free to read one of my stories. I will only beta read for fandoms I know well, so I can give some advice about characterisation and canon. I'm Italian, and I can be a good reference about the country, the language and its inhabitants. I also remember my high school Latin if you need spells or ancient scrolls. I've been doing scientific research and heavy industrial work, and could help you with technical tips about both.

I can tell you when you're telling instead of showing, when someone is acting out of character, when previously established canon clashes with something in your story. I can spot logical errors in a plot. In each one of these instances, I will be able to offer suggestions and alternatives - which you're free to take or leave, of course.

As previously stated, I am not a native speaker. I am more familiar with British English, but I won't be able to Britpick, or to tell whether characters are speaking in a manner inappropriate for their education, social class, or origin.

I prefer plot-driven or character-driven stories where steamy hot scenes are an accessory to the story, and not vice versa.

I am not squeamish and can read through scenes of torture as long as they are advancing the plot. But torture that just goes on and on does nothing for me. If your story has those, find yourself another beta. I am sure that it is possible to write Mpreg stories that do not want this former biologist to curl up in a corner and weep. But in practice, I've never read one, and I've been into fanfiction for fifteen plus years. if your story has those, find yourself another beta.
