Well, first of all I read a lot, and when given a chapter or story or idea to beta I fully expect to read something long. I will read and have input in return almost the next day unless something comes up.

I expect anyone who sends me the story to be willing to have an actual discussion about the work through e-mail or messenger. Some things need to be talked though. I often talk to people as a sound board to see how ideas sound before putting them down on paper. If you aren't willing to listen to what I have to say then don't expect me to care. You don't have to say why you don't like an idea. But I expect people to at least listen and respond in some way either for or against the suggestions.

I'm very good at spotting minor story discrepancies. Saying where a character was from, or how much time has passed, quotes and back stories. I'll memorize them automatically and point out errors. I'm fairly decent at spotting grammar or spelling errors. I am VERY good at helping to direct the flow of writing so that they aren't interrupted by stray thoughts or ideas. I am a very thorough reader and not likely to miss any material.

As a writer i mix up tenses, sometimes in the same sentence. But I am working on that. I often find myself describing environments more then characters and focusing more on location then equipment and the like. As such I may miss those in reading.

I love long stories. I don't mind short chapters so long as it's long, with an involved plot and good unique characters. I love adventure stories, people going different places, meeting different people and learning new things ect. Action stories are good also, so long as it isn't taken over bored and is well written. I love fantasy, scifi, and the like.

No stories that won't be at least 40,000 words in length. I can't stand short pointless stories. Also, no stories based solely around romance, I may be a romantic but all that stuff makes me ill when I read it. No Yaoi, I'm a straight guy and that stuff does nothing for me. No horror or thriller, it's rarely ever done well by professional authors and I have yet to see any professional authors on FF.Net. Angst and Drama? Keep them away from me because I refuse flat out to read them.
