I am extremely good at catching spelling and/or grammar errors. When editing other peoples' stories, I tend to edit spelling/grammar-wise one chapter at a time, but I will read an entire story at least once if not twice (this doesn't take me as long as it sounds like) before making general plot suggestions. I may stop at certain points to point out major plot gaps, inconsistencies, or errors in one chapter or another, however. I generally expect stories to be of decent quality before they're sent to me to beta.

Spelling errors, grammar errors, etc. are my specialty when it comes to editing. I'm fairly good at catching inconsistencies as well, though I'm by no means perfect. I love magic theory, and will happily tell you if your "world rules" (the rules governing how your 'verse works) make sense in the canon-verse and compared to the rest of your story, or if they're completely disorganized and out of line. If a story is based on mythology, generally speaking I can point out errors in your mythological facts (Greek vs Roman names, etc.)

I have failed to catch inconsistencies in the past. I have also been known to miss plot holes until they're pointed out to me (or at least until I read/watch the story/show in question a half dozen times or so). I can at times get a little carried away with suspension of reality for the sake of a story.

Fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, they're all great. I like some romance, but it has to be well-written, so passing it by me may be a good way to tell if yours makes the cut - if I like your characters' romance, it's probably pretty darn good. I love anything based off of fairy tales or mythology. Happy endings are a good thing, but "fate's (read: author's) cruelty" to characters is too. High drama is always a win. Humor is a good thing too. My fandoms/books, movies, etc. I like are listed on my profile, but are NOT by any stretch of the imagination limited to those.

Hot-and-heavy romance or stories that rely on the romance generally aren't my style. I'm not typically into historical fiction, though there are some really really good realistic fictions I like. I refuse to read anything with detailed sexual scenes in it (fade in and out as appropriate, please and thanks). Some gore is fine, but nothing excessive, please. No creepypasta - that stuff gives me nightmares. Horror is a major no, for the same reason.
