I have been an avid reader for over 20 years. I try to read thoroughly and objectively to the best of my ability. I will not try to change the direction of a storyline or plot, however if asked I am willing to give an honest opinion. My main focus in beta reading is on spelling, general grammar and sentence structure, as well as continuity of characters and storyline. I am polite and friendly in my work and expect the same from anyone I work with. Someone who chooses to have me beta their work should be able to accept constructive criticism and be willing to discuss changes regarding the above subjects.

I am an excellent speller and good with punctuation. I remember what I read fairly well, enabling me to pick up on most continuity issues. I rarely have to return to past chapters to recall events, but certainly will do so if I am questioning something. I am also a fast, thorough reader.

My biggest weakness is probably that I write using too many passive sentences, so I am not as likely to notice them when I am reading. I'm okay with general sentence structure - in other words, I try to make sure that the sentence makes sense when read, but prepositions, subject-verb agreement, adverbs...not so good.

As with most people, I find that I read more attentively when the subject is interesting to me - I like reading romance, adventure, drama etc. but would rather not read horror. I will read most genres and ratings. I enjoy reading InuYasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Harry Potter, Danny Phantom, Teen Titans, Ranma, Vampire Knight, Twilight, Bleach and the occasional Avatar the last Airbender.

I prefer not to read yaoi/yuri or stories with satanic/cult themes. Lemons are okay as long as they are not crude or vulgar and do not include orgies/multiple partners.
