I've never done beta-reading before, so I can't say much about that! But, I have done proofreading for my friends and family for school. I am majoring in journalism, and English, grammar, and writing have always been right up my alley. When I proofread, I tend to look closely at grammar and spelling specifically, but I also look at the document as a whole and how it sounds (whether it reads smoothly, etc.). I tend to be really picky, but I ALWAYS tell the person I'm doing it for that they don't have to change the things I say, they're just suggestions. If it's a blatant grammatical/spelling error, I will let them know; otherwise, the things I say are just suggestions.

Right now I am willing to help anyone out. This may change later, but right now, ask away! All I expect from you basically is politeness and courtesy. Like I said, a lot of what I say is just suggestion and by no means do you have to use it.

I have always been very strong in the whole realm of English. I absolutely love grammar, I enjoy proofreading, and I am good in spelling. I am very nitpicky, but only because that's the way I would want someone to be with mine, and you never have to use everything I say. I'm a junior in college majoring in journalism, if that makes you feel better about what I can do. Anything else you want to know - just ask!

Some people might consider picky-ness a weakness. I do tend to miss things that people might consider obvious - like my friend wrote a paper and said 1942 instead of 1492 and I completely missed it (fortunately, someone else caught it!). Sometimes my brain corrects things automatically and so I don't even really notice the mistake. I try to be very careful, though!

Right now, I will betaread any genre of story! I have just started this, so I don't really have enough experience to say that I prefer one kind over another.

Anything with sexually explicit content or an overabundance of foul language - a little doesn't bother me, but not every other word. So far, that's all I can think of!
